Yep. Took a little while to track down exactly where this was, but you can follow their route up Boschertown Rd on Google street view, and then measure the distance. Should be accurate to within a few feet

Yep, like I said, it looks like 10-minute pace. Maybe a little better than that, but nowhere near the 7-8-9 mph suggested here.

(And it looks like he's really struggling to maintain it, even for a very short distance.)

This guy is such a gigantic fraud, it's almost comical.

This has been answered and you know it, as reported the van drove away with him (Rob) suspected as being in it as later matching sleuth work noted. Later Rob and his crew got together some lame excuse that they drove away because they feared who it may have been. Didn't stop them going through town a short time later at 2:10am with Rob no where in sight but speculated by him that he could be up to 15 minutes behind running on his lonesome, yeah right. Why if so fearful and why,s the RV going at such a slow pace?, Rob and the tracker couldn't be inside it could they, just like on the open road a short time earlier?

That may be the case, where there is less concern for ice & snow load, perhaps they do space them further in Missouri - I probably should have checked. Years ago, when we were tethering fibre, the polls here spaced at 40 - 50m (for wooden polls).

That said, the start/finish coordinate of the video segment would be the most foolproof way of gauging his pace from the video.

For those who are lost in all the details and may have lost specifics of the story, the day his van took a wrong turn and got lost in the desert makes for some very interesting math. What he would have had to accomplish that day is not really mentioned in his blog... and it would have been one heck of a story.

Similarly, if you read the blog for the time covered by the OP, they strangely DIDNT EVEN MENTION the whole knife-wielding assassin part and fearing for their lives. You would think that might make for good copy. Apparently not.

To me, this makes it clear that the crew is completely in on it (for them to know when the camera is coming up etc.). And as someone else noted, it's the money, not the records. for those that know more about the charity contributions, would be interesting to see if there's some fraud going on there.

I think we have some collateral damage here.

For how slow Robert Young and company must be driving, they should have rented an electric car. It would have saved a ton of money on idling the engine on that RV.

we located RY just after 1230.

he was in a poorly chosen stretch of road...

heavy traffic, moving fast.

hilly, curvy, short lines of sight.

they appeared to be struggling with how to handle the situation

the arvie moving slowly with the runner

and one of his helpers atop the next hill

trying to flag the traffic to keep it from killing RY

he was in classic 95 + temperature trudge.

but he did muster a "run" on the downhills.

we decided under the circumstances to try and help some.

I ran back to the arvie and jumped in the passenger side.

told the driver it was only a couple of miles to the interstate,

after which the situation was much more manageable.

then I introduced myself,

and he said they were expecting us.

and glad to see us as they were anxious for the attempt to be judged as genuine.

there was more, which I will pass along later.

(maybe I can find something that wont double space everything)

a last note.

RY is surely a genuinely nice guy.

he crossed the road thru that maniacal traffic

and shook my hand with both of his.

his expression was that of a rabbit cornered by a pack of wolves...

quite appropriate in the situation.

I would have never run where he was running with a crew vehicle next to me.

(and I would not have liked it all alone)
