I did not have a "falling out" with SJD....I've never interacted with him in person and I don't know him at all!
From what I gather we are both around the same age and both do some of the same trail-mountain races and road marathons (and both train and live in Colorado and make running Youtube videos). I guess we both ran the Speedgoat 50km one year (he didn't do very well), but he's also run about 1-min faster at the Pikes Peak Marathon (on a different year compared to when I got 2nd to Kilian there) compared to me....3:38 to 3:37. He's a run a really fast Ascent time at Pikes Peak also and seems to really thrive on the high altitude climbs.
I also know he's done a few marathons in the 2:23 range and that I was doing running video content on Youtube several years before he started. He seemed to really gain traction during the COVID era and when he apparently made VLOGs daily (very hard to do and time consuming imo).
Other than that I don't think we have anything in common. Like at all. I'd actually guess that we are probably "nearly opposites" in a lot of (most?) ways. From some of his videos I think sometimes there are probably illegal drone shots that he performs (I'm not 100% sure, but in the past there are certain drone shots that have seemed very suspect from what i've seen).
Don't get me wrong, I love drone shots, but I try to be respectful about the laws/rules/regulations around them and to not disturb or endanger other people for the sake of "getting the shot".
It's why I also didn't run with a extendable selfie/camera stick during the Houston Marathon to film (as much as I would have liked to)....because it was totally against the race rules that were explicitly stated and because I don't think as a "content creator" I'm "above the law". We have to respect other fellow runners experiences and we are all under the same race/event rules.
