I'll try to be brief. Churchill tried warning Stalin that Germany was going to attack. Stalin didn't believe it. If I was president of the USA I would have insisted that Britain sue for peace. They would have gotten good terms from Hitler. Hitler didn't want a two front war.
That would have allowed the Allies to focus on fighting Japan, while Germany and the Soviet Union destroyed each other. With the defeat of Japan the Allies would go back to Europe, kill anyone left alive who wished to continue fighting, including the Soviets.

The opportunity for the US Army to prevent it did not present itself until the summer of 1944. The Army Air Force could have bombed railroads in 1943, but didn't. The US and British air forces bombed THOUSANDS of miles of railroads in Germany and other Nazi-held territory in 1943.
