Many are chalking up the drone attacks, rail sabotage and cross border incursions to Ukraine "shaping" operations designed to force RU to commit resources away from where Ukraine intends to launch its counter-offensive. I think that the situation in Russia is much more fluid than it appears and there very well may be some Russian partisans who are carrying out attacks that are not coordinated with UA. Russia has made plenty of enemies in the region since Putin took power. There are Belarusians and Kazakhs who blame Putin for participating in the brutal crackdown on anti-government protests. While they get jailed, poisoned and thrown out of hotel windows, there is also an anti-Putin opposition within Russia. Then, you have people Chechnya and Georgia who would be happy to do harm to Putin. And there are a lot of Ukrainians who were displaced from Crimea in 2014 after the Russian invasion and from Donbas since the 2022 invasion who have been sent to far flung places within Russia. So, there is a much longer list than you would think of people inside Russia who are ready to risk it all to attack Putin and take advantage of the fact that RU forces are stretched to their limits right now.

Precious Roy, good post. Putin has made many enemies internally and around the neighborhood. But it doesn't look like there is anyone to take his place that would be a better leader. WWII in Europe lasted 5 1/2 years. This war could end sooner than that. Or continue for 10/15 years.

Russia is leveling cities and wiping out Nazi Ukraine's personnel / equipment. Huge kill ratios in Bakhmut, the biggest loss yet. Why not just eliminate resources like Russia is doing.
