I just realized that Blake Bay of Fresno Christian ran a Central Section sophomore record besting Miguel Villar's (Madera South 2014) mark of 15:15 with a 15:12.1! Lots of revisions to the Central Section all-time list today after a fantastic day of racing!
The rest of the country is sick of this. Cali gets to wait and race a merge and get the benefit of the doubt over all other regions.
I think California should be capped at 2 berths until they change their state meet and actually hold a real NXR like everyone else.
California CIF has to race 5 weeks straight. In case you don't know, CIF SS is brutal in terms of qualification. The CIF Finals race is more competitive than any other state race other than Utah, Colorado, and Texas.. Then you have to race state the next week.. and if your lucky nxn
Today was not a great day for San Diego boys. Best team in the merge was Poway in 51st. Coincidentally the top SD individual was Cooper Castleberry from Poway and he is 51st in the merge. No top 10 individuals or team finishes in any division
St. Francis Mountain View (CCS) girls finish 6th in the merge, which is about what I expected (5th-6th) and yet again assert themselves as the #1 XC girls program in Northern California.

California shouldn't be auto rewarded for their stupid qualification system. Their 3 and 4 on the girls side are way back. No evidence they're any better than Texas schools or anyone else.
Nike should give Calofornia 2 bids max until they fix their system and actually compete for spots like the reat of the country.

How about you move your NXR South race a week before NXN and the state meet a week before that then the qualifier meet a week before that?

Also be sure the aren't flat courses. They must be super hilly. Like mt sac. Because yes, you have to race mt sac twice - cif prelims and finals..

Cut the crap. California is far and away the strongest state in the nation. Their fifth team in the merge, ranked by total team finishing time, not place, which puts Santiago ahead of JSerra) would probably beat most teams in other states.
It is just as arguable that the problem rests with Nikeeee coming up with the stupid NXN in the first place, when Footlocker was the defacto national championship.
Lets not let a random Texas coach ruin another great state meet! Every year it just gets better and better. Amazing athletes and coaches! Props to everyone and hopefully California is repped well at NXN!
Oaks Christian boys took 4th in the merge, 88 points behind third. They put 5 under 16 which is really good. Even if they don’t get an at-large, winning their first state title after never being close is no small accomplishment
