I think it’s easy to understand how 46% of the country wants to put him back into power. You can sort people into a few different categories.
Some believe that Trump was anointed by God to be their champion so he can literally do no wrong. The Christian right pulled for GWB and Bob Dole and Ronnie but none of them had anywhere near the fervor around them that Trump does. Telling them that you have evidence that Trump broke the law isn’t very far from telling them that you have evidence that Jesus broke the law. God is the Law and so whatever his anointed champions do cannot be wrong.
For others, Trump is their guy on policy whether it’s burning every ounce of oil and timber we have access to or making sure that we have as many teen moms as possible so even if he’s a dirty rotten scoundrel and end democracy as we know it, he’s still going to implement the policies they want to the ends justify the means. Among that group, some genuinely think that the Democrats are just as corrupt and would go just as far. Others acknowledge that they wouldn’t go as far but they don’t care. Trump has shown that fairness need not apply for a significant part of the voting populace.
There are plenty of people on this forum that are at their happiest as when liberals are pissed off. If that’s your top priority then Trump’s your candidate and who cares how he does it?
It comes down to one factor: which president did the better job in office. All the other stuff is just noise. You want to try to get people to not look at substance and instead look at stuff that has no bearing on their daily lives.

Jack Smith gives us a clearer picture of what Trump was doing every minute of Jan 6th through his phone forensics. Trump was planted in the small "dining" area outside the oval in front of a massive TV and scrolling Twitter on his phone. He was glued to the action. Ignoring pleas from his allies, aides and family to do something. After all, he is the President. He has a duty to protect not only the police officers but all US citizens.
He was watching fox News and the timeline proves he saw them report that a police officer was injured. He did nothing. Then he saw that the capitol was breached and now lawmakers lives were in immediate danger. They were being evacuated. This was when he decided to send the tweet that Mike Pence failed him because he did not have courage. Further enraging the crowd and causing Pence to have to be moved away to protect his life.
Incomprehensible indeed how anyone can justify putting that back in power.

Have actively encouraged these actions.

We are teetering on recession, we are running $2 trillion annual deficits 4 years after COVID, the interest rate on the massive pile of debt has risen as a result of Bidenflation to the point where we are paying over $1 trillion annually in interest and will continue to rise until we can get close to an additional 2% in rate cuts, are funding two proxy wars that threaten to become nuclear, we have massive numbers of new immigrants who are receiving massive amounts of federal and local tax dollars through FEMA (to the point we do not have funds to respond to actual emergencies), Medicaid (which is causing many hospitals to operate on unsustainable margins), welfare, etc. And you want to elect the person who wants to give away more free stuff ($25k for new home buyers, $6k child tax credit, etc.), wants more immigrants, wants to continue the endless wars, wants to increase energy prices, wants a green new deal, etc. and wants to increase taxes by a massive amount to pay for it all crushing the stock market and jobs in the process.
