Never a mean-spirited thing to say to anyone and always quick with a joke or advice. I recall the story of him raising three adopted kids on his own so they would not go to foster care. He messed up but I am also friends with one of the women he was in a relationship with way back then and she also has nothing but great things to say about him. It is not surprising he found success in acting and modeling.

I hope he gets another chance. I am not alone in rooting for his comeback.

BTW, Metcalf chose to resign, I can assure you, although perhaps if he had not, they might have fired him, I don't know. It may have just been that the situation going forward would have been untenable in his opinion.

Dubs was turned down for Notre Dame. So who are they going with? Any news out at nationals. Lost of power 5 staffs still open.

100% indefensible. Period.

No horse in this race but, as an attorney, this type of charge holds no legal weight. There is no judge in the country that would agree that a consensual relationship of two adults constitutes abuse on the basis that one is a college coach and one is a college athlete.

I don’t think coaches should date athletes. But to make the leap to abuse only takes away from other valid points this program makes.

I also find it interesting that this completely downplays female-female relationships. Clearly these two women that wrote the article have not spent much time around field hockey and lacrosse programs.

There is no way McGregor got fired. He probably already accepted a much more competitive position at a more esteemed university, and then let the Samford staff know.

McGregor is easily the best coach under 35 in the NCAA, and there is no way a university would fire him. Can someone in the know please provide clarity in regards to his departure from Samford?

+1 on wanting to know where/if he lands. He seems like a nice guy. Given that he met with the team on his way out suggests that he left on his own terms. Odd there is no news on where he is going.

A few weeks ago it was the Huryz fanboys. Now it's the McGregor fanboys. Face it. He got Ordansek talent and didn't mess that up.... thank God. He didn't recruit hard enough and from what I heard he only came into the office to run with the kids and that's it. Best coach in the NCAA under 35????? What a joke lmao

Do not tell me, as a woman and a proud feminist, how I should feel or not feel. There are many of us (other strong female coaches) that do not fully agree with this study when it comes to equating abuse and a C-SA relationship. Everything needs to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. This is not the NCAA rule on relationships. It is a study, by two people, funded by the NCAA. It serves as a useful tool. To my knowledge it has not been taken at face value by any institutions. It serves as a guide.

I have strong feelings about drawing comparisons between these relationships and actual abuse. The pain, shame and scars from real abuse are too devastating to put into words and anyone that has suffered sexual abuse would never agree that these relationships are even in the same realm. It is offensive and too normalizing to draw this comparison and I know very few that would agree with this article on that point. Go to a support group or a shelter and ask any of these women if they think it is the same. I dare you.

I am 100% against coach-athlete relationships. I do not feel as though, in all situations, that it should result in the coach being banished from college coaching. We are a society of second chances. We are also a society where woman can feel empowered to make our own decisions as they relate to our bodies and our relationships.

This is the wrong forum for this discussion. My opinion, as a woman and as a coach, is that this particular person is worthy of a chance to make things right. I am not speaking about all coaches. We ALL know several of you men, many on this board, that are married to your former runners. Many of you that have dated your athletes and gotten away with it. I reserve the right to have an opinion about each of you individually, and not make blanked statements.

Could you ladies/gentlemen please.... PLEASE make your own thread about this topic. This is the coaches job posting thread stop talking about something that has nothing to do with the summer hiring season..

And stop talking about coaches and who is the best and not the best none of that can be factually acclaimed, it’s all based on opinion. Leave it out of this thread please
