diamonds in the rough with the right mindset and moderate talent.
weekly talk to recruits running 15-20mpw and good times 7 times out of 10 you take those athletes put them on a progressive plan over 3-4 years and make sure they are taking care of themselves and there you go. 1/3 will probably go 19.5-18.5
1/3 will go 19.5 to 17.5 and 1/6 16.5 and 1/6 quit or not improve much.
you just have to have the patience to find the right people with the right mindset and give them time.
From what I know about Loras, if they can promote from within to avoid a search, that's what they're going to do. And they love having alumni on staff.
I don't know anything about the search, I'm not an insider or anything, but if I had to take a stab at it, they'll promote the head XC coach to director of track and field and promote the assistant XC coach to head.
XC coach worked under Jones and their previous longtime XC coach and the assistant XC coach is an alum. Then I'm sure they'll try to find some other alum to take the assistant coaching job on a PT basis.
He had (sexual) relations with many of his athletes… I wish I was lying.
When you make a comment like this on here and responding to someone on some other previous page you should probably quote the person or name the person you are talking about.
Syracuse, N.Y. ??? Le Moyne College Assistant Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation Phil Brown has announced the hiring of Tanner Beebe
Arkansas men’s track and field head coach Chris Bucknam announced his retirement at the end of 2025 and Razorback associate head coach Doug Case will become the next head coach of the men’s program.
That doesn't solve the problem filling Jones' role with the sprints so don't see that happening.
Not going to the promote the XC coach to director either....just took over XC so still needs to prove himself in a position of responsibility, and if they were that impressed with him they would have made him interim HC at the start. And I can't believe that being closely associated with a disgraced coach is helpful in the eyes of admin.
It's really too bad Petesch left UW-L for the Plattsburg job last year. He is from a small town near Dubuque and went to Platteville so he knows the area well. He would have been great for Loras I think (yes, I know he's a distance guy, so there's still that issue)

You should actually not make comments like this about anyone? Why do that? Be better.

Unless it's true. Then they should absolutely tell anyone that will listen.

You think they’d name XC HC the interim TF coach at the end of the season with nationals coming up? Because I absolutely don’t. More believable to think they’d put an assistant in to focus on TF while he wraps up XC.
Loras promotes assistants whenever possible. Their current wrestling HC was there a year before the previous coach was canned, leading to his promotion. I see the same happening here, except the XC HC has been at the school for 5 years.
