You should probably read up on this issue and try to discern the difference between someone who sneaks across the border and someone who arrives seeking asylum. It is entirely legal for an immigrant to arrive on our shores and request asylum. What we do with them at that point is a matter of the law and how it's enforced.
Republicans have been allowing asylum seekers entry for decades (Cubans, who vote Republican) when it suits their needs.
There are also people who enter legally, but overstay a visa. Refugees from other countries who are granted temporary legal status...

The problem here is that liberals think "my country sucks" is a legitimate claim of asylum.
Cubans are fleeing to the next country over.
People traveling through multiple countries to get to the US are NOT seeking asylum.
