2013 College Coaching Positions Open(ing)

Interesting decision. Not a very desirable job. Everyone knows JJ is gone after the upcoming year, whoever he hired was on a 1-year in and out deal. No way you can get a Tim Hall, etc. to come into that situation. Clark knows he's done, so the hire is worthless. Interesting Glavash takes that job. Would have had more job security at Illinois. Good for him though. Coaching women and doing a slight above average job at Eastern Michigan ain't the same thing as coaching Men's Sprints in the SEC. Good luck.

Maybe he didn't have a job at Illinois? TBB hired him and then left. Was he going to be retained by the new head? It was an odd hire in the first place at Illinois to hire a sprints guy to coach distance.

Maybe it's not true but the FSU Track twitter account congratulated her on the new job. Weird for them to do that if it's not true.

Well that's good to hear he was really building up their programs it would have been sad to see him let go.

Yes, that is true. The relationship between the HC and distnace runners is very poor, as he has had hardly any contact with the girls since Michelle Scott left. He has kept the women's distance team in the dark as to what's happening with the program and what to expect for the upcoming season. I'm sure they are all still following Michelle Scott's lead as far as training since they have not heard anything about a new coach. I'd say one or two girls are leaving if possible.

Where are they going to go? The top girl on their XC team this year finished 49th at the Regional meet (not real impressive). Not a lot school looking to give money to someone like that who want to transfer.

Is the issue strictly with the HC or with all of the coaches? Sad to hear whats happening at WKU with the rich distance history it has.

Glavish is a Middle Distance guy. He ran the 800 in college.

And Vince Anderson wasn\'t a sprinter, and Carrie Lane never threw, yet they are regarded as top coaches in their event areas. I think Glavash was a part of some pretty good 4x4 teams in college and ran the open 4 on occasion, pretty well for an 800 guy, weird that 800 runners can sprint huh? He worked with Vince Anderson and probably had his hands on some of the sprinters at A&M, so regardless, he knows how to train high level kids. How about give the guy longer than a week to turn that sprint group around. You old Vols might be the reason that Tennessee isn\'t a very attractive position right now......

This wasn't referring to anything about Tennessee or what kind of job he will do there. It was referring to the fact that it was an interesting choice to hire a sprints or as mentioned mid d guy to coach the cross country and distance women at Illinois.
