Is this Joe Rogen? I recognize the incoherent drool that ruined the Man Show.

Turk has never really been known as a consistent good throws coach. He had a decent shot putter this year, and last year was a grad transfer that ran his own program from the previous school. Other than that, not much else. I would imagine Illinois will hire a sprints or distance person as head coach, so it would be interesting to see who that person would bring in to coach the throws

Gia Lewis-Smallwood graduated from Illinois before Turk arrived so that’s not his. I was looking at the top 10 all time Illinois T&F records and almost none of the discuss or shot holders are from Turk’s time there. Lot’s of the 35 pound weight throwers are and I’m not sure that doesn’t have more to do with the history of the event. His expertise at coaching throws aside his ten plus year career as a head coach and the results, trends produced say he’s not a success. I try to predict who our AD will hire and have never been successful. Whitman is good at pulling in some big names that surprise and the school just completed an investment in the T&F facilities. I’d expect him to try to make a splash.

Should hire someone from Smith Tree. Take advantage of the Chicago inner city women and the rural Illinois country boys.

Smith tree? You have to help me with who Smith is? Googling Smith and track isn’t a winner. But if I were looking to capitalize on local talent I might look for ESL connections?

I was thinking Buford Bailey. She was a big loss when she left for Texas. Not there anymore and there’s always a difference between a successful assistant and a successful head coach.

Anybody know if Toledo still going to hire a non distance coach after the new one bailing out in less then a year? Andrea Grove still needs a token coach right?
Looks like no track and field for men or women at the University of Toledo. Hadsell did it better, and with less abuse of the program.

Hadsell? Less abuse? The guy who was drinking with his athletes and having sex with them? Interesting take. How Kevin “Barbaro” still has a platform on Twitter that anyone takes seriously is beyond me.

They had an amazing recruiting class. Just give it time. Also calling someone a token is pretty marginalizing. The last assistant was a white guy dummy.

The reality is that Andrea/ Toledo bragged about hiring based on gender and race to the student athletes at Toledo and anybody willing to listen really. It’s trendy, and trying to score with the new AD. All that while discriminating against her own team non distance events. Pretty much the definition of tokenism.

Also, Looks like You are the one who made a reference to gender and race of another person in a negative way. Guess what that makes you?

Hadsell is taken seriously because he didn’t run away and hide. He messed up. Paid a heavy price. Rebuilt his life. There’s a lot of us the respect that. Nobody condones his behavior but it was a long time ago. There’s a lot of current coaches that have done the same. Including some P5 coaches. The other thing Hadsell has going for him besides owning his mistakes is that he’s always been a nice guy and continues to be.

Whatever you say, Kevin! I guess a lot of current coaches still take you seriously because they don’t wanna throw stones from glass houses.

This is going to fail miserably for Oregon. They won’t reach the level that RJ had them at.
