China's on the brink of economic collapse. Having Taiwan bloody their nose and getting sanctioned into a oblivion would the dumbest move they could make.
China relies on the US Navy for almost all of its food and energy. Invading Taiwan would be national suicide.

China is watching what Western weapons are doing to Russia in Ukraine. China would have to cross two hundred miles of ocean to invade Taiwan. They'd get crushed. The United States has a Pacific Fleet with pre-positioned men and equipment all over that territory. The United States Military Policy is to be able to fight two wars at once. WWII is a good example of that.
