Subscriber numbers have nothing to do with views and views have nothing to do with actual minutes watched. The last thing is, what youtube is interested in.
I guess I'm agreeing with you in a roundabout way. there does seem to be a special type of narcissism to start a runtube channel. 90% of them are terrible
I watch a decent amount of you tube channels and a lot of them have excellent content. (DIY, woodworking, cars, flying, backpacking) but you are right, running related there is a lot of terrible stuff out there. Maybe we just know too much about the subject.
I do enjoy sweat elite’s channel and Matt fox’s build up for Berlin.
Ohh, Seth is SOOOO much worse than Tinman, AS, Rheinhardt Harrison, Vo2max, Zach Levet, Tyler Speers, WesFly, and Nick Symmonds. ;)
i'm going to take a stab at this list:
1) zach levet and tyler speers' channels both sh*t the bed. in both cases it was like a mercy killing - everyone was relieved when it was over. so we can scrape those off the list.
2) Is WesFly even a thing anymore? I do miss his weird cokehead-on-a-bender stock broker 'lectures' tho, definitely would watch more of those.
3) Nick Symmonds - definite used car saleman vibe, never watched.
4) Tinman - like late 90s emo that is sometimes really good and then sometimes really embarrassing - you're like 70% unsure if you should say you like it. i actually really liked the latest 'season' of videos they put out

You mean like this site, right? It’s not far from being a 4chan of running. Why in god’s name would anyone come away from this site inspired??? This from someone who thinks DGR is a lot of con.
If you really want to know how self centered Seth is.. do y'all remember marathon Monday? Yeah that video was always posted on a Tuesday so filmed on a Monday. It's always his point of view first... never the viewers. Ego has run wild.
Now COFFEECLUB has it all likable guys and some of the fastest in the world. I get the feeling Ollie is on LR, he gets so fired up and outspoken about the politics in the sport. :)

I haven’t watched Seth since he got the crutches, but I clicked on today’s video. The fact that he’s still setting up the camera for his B-roll footage while walking around on crutches is hilarious.

sweat elite feels like meat on the bone. You can actually get good workout ideas and learn useful things for running. And I really like the stripped down esthetic; sans music and just the sound of the running and the wind with some occasional talking. It doesn't have that put-on, trying-too-hard 'cool' attitude and eye-roll-inducing catch phrases most of these have

If nothing else, Seth is definitely committed to the "uploading a video every single day is a monumental effort, unbelievable amount of work" bit.
Shhh everyone just pretend he doesn't film like 6 shoe review videos back to back on one day in a single take with no prep. Or oops yeah no one noticed when he re-uploaded weeks/months-old mountain running footage since he can't even run right now, right. Let's not point out that he admitted to not even editing the shoe review videos himself anymore.
This is a daily vlog after all, c'mon now! If Seth woke up at 5am to click "upload" and then hours later tersely replied to like 3 comments, that's gotta be like 10 hours of work right thurr right thurr right thurr. Video thumbnails don't discern themselves after all.
Time for Seth to start a personal finance business, now that YouTube isn’t working out for him. Here are Seth’s financial tips:
1. Get a college degree in something useful but only if you network properly, like marketing. then don’t network properly. what the heck! you have your whole life ahead of you to get it together baby!
2. Drive for uber (remember, time is money, and the app based application process is very fast!!)
3. Marry someone who wants to crank out babies rather than pay cheques (you need some motivation to make money! it’s more fun this way!)
4. Start a YouTube Channel (did you know Google owns YouTube? Bling bling baby, time to get that sweet sweet ad revenue!)
5. Inherit $1M+

there's just this incredible amount of bullsh*t heaped on top of bullsh*t.
Seth: NO ONE CARES if you are working 12 hour days on top of having to occupy the same physical space with you rapidly multiplying genetic colony. everybody has jobs and obligations and I just really couldn't give less of a sh*t. Even if it were true, it's just so tedious.
It's clear that there's just such a manufactured life being put on here in nearly every facet. And then you throw in the appeals for money and the subscriber model and the increasingly weird parasocial cult leader persona and it really has taken on that sleazy evangelical pastor vibe. with that said, like 60% of America can get on board with this type of garbage, so hey maybe he found this niche that will just keep pumping money into the machine?
