The mid-soles of a shoe he looked at today had a rating of 8/10, and the derometer score in the 50's. Seth tried to figure out why: "oh yeah, DURABILITY!" Meanwhile, the Hoka Mach series is his "preferred" low 30's, yet don't have any durability. Also 8/10. Great work Seth, all shoes are awesome, you just gotta crowbar in the right sub-metric to think about!
I know how much we all enjoy when he twists a shoe and knowingly looks at the camera, nodding like he just uncovered the secrets of the universe. Also:
*runs in the shoes twice*
Hmmm I predict you’ll get a good 500 miles out of this shoe (throw to Stan’s in the comments complaining how they only got 200 out of the last pair and that they are a waste of money)
Seth is Schrodinger's running shoe huckster: the shoes need to be simultaneously durable (so you're encouraged to buy a pair through his affiliate links) and not durable (so you don't run in that one pair for too long and instead keep using his affiliate links for new pairs).
I keep thinking about the vlog a few weeks back where Seth and the Girl had never heard of an Orthopedic Doctor before. They kept saying the term orthopedic and musculoskeletal over and over. "We learned a new word today!"
Ohh, Seth is SOOOO much worse than Tinman, AS, Rheinhardt Harrison, Vo2max, Zach Levet, Tyler Speers, WesFly, and Nick Symmonds. ;)
i'm going to take a stab at this list:
1) zach levet and tyler speers' channels both sh*t the bed. in both cases it was like a mercy killing - everyone was relieved when it was over. so we can scrape those off the list.
2) Is WesFly even a thing anymore? I do miss his weird cokehead-on-a-bender stock broker 'lectures' tho, definitely would watch more of those.
3) Nick Symmonds - definite used car saleman vibe, never watched.
4) Tinman - like late 90s emo that is sometimes really good and then sometimes really embarrassing - you're like 70% unsure if you should say you like it. i actually really liked the latest 'season' of videos they put out
I guess I'm agreeing with you in a roundabout way. there does seem to be a special type of narcissism to start a runtube channel. 90% of them are terrible

I'm with you. Being serious a second. Tinman has more misses than hits, I liked the quick 4-day/4-part series 2022 summary they did last week. Rheinhardt is unbearable to watch and very little running content, zero hope for the future. L&L is hard to watch sometimes, but you feel like they're nice kids and you want to root for them. Their channel will mature as they do. I put Seth and Sage in the same boat, I like much of their content because trail and mountain related. Both have things that annoy me though. I imagine those on here who can't stand Seth, also can't stand Sage.

Tinman is interesting. Great quality and the way the put a series together is very good. BUT - I don’t get the economics of it. Their subs and view count isn’t high. They have a bunch of paid guys on their team but their results by pro team/world standards are poor. The only ones doing well are an English steeplechaser, Parsons via Germany (although he got dropped hard in the worlds 5k final - at least he got there) and Reed who also works. I get they make some money in the merch drops and Joey has a good story but how long will adidas keep this going?

This also omitted the greatest running YT bit which of course is FogDog’s FogDog rap intro.

Seth is not in the same category as these guys. He's runs one local race that he has done well at. One. He is far closer to being on the same level as Greg than Sage or any guy who has actually trained on a pro-team. Apples to apples - go ahead and watch Greg's YouTube channel and compare that with Seth -see how you like his race re-cap: poor training, local race, 2nd place... Seth v.2.

I watch a decent amount of you tube channels and a lot of them have excellent content. (DIY, woodworking, cars, flying, backpacking) but you are right, running related there is a lot of terrible stuff out there. Maybe we just know too much about the subject.
I like channels that focus on the racing and training, also likable guys. L&L can be like this. I do like FOGDOG, Adam and Isaac likeable, but I'm afraid FOGDOG will lose a little without the frequent college racing and not sure he's going to give pro 100%.
Now COFFEECLUB has it all likable guys and some of the fastest in the world. I get the feeling Ollie is on LR, he gets so fired up and outspoken about the politics in the sport. :)
Beer Mile gets some great interviews, but hardly any views, they must have screwed up their algorithm with "beer".
Next Gen I haven't figured out Ben completely and Matt annoys me a little, but great access to Cooper, Cole, Reed, etc.

There is only so much you can say about running. Backpacking topics, destinations, gear and skills (eg land nav) is kind of endless. woodworking? each project can be unique and there are a million different tools. Running is just running. Running shoes? what is there to say ? I like to do it. but how much content can there be? realistically
In the span of 10 hours, Seth’s latest shoe battle has gained 2.4k views. Big woof. He is done. I think even his DGR cult following is growing bored. Time for true love to get a job for the first time in a decade

C'mon now, there are 24 hours in a day! All Seth's truest fans are about to get off work and put their feet up and watch his video. Once hyped, plan out their 2 runs for the week. Right thur right thur right thur!
Time for Seth to start a personal finance business, now that YouTube isn’t working out for him. Here are Seth’s financial tips:
1. Get a college degree in something useful but only if you network properly, like marketing. then don’t network properly. what the heck! you have your whole life ahead of you to get it together baby!
2. Drive for uber (remember, time is money, and the app based application process is very fast!!)
3. Marry someone who wants to crank out babies rather than pay cheques (you need some motivation to make money! it’s more fun this way!)
4. Start a YouTube Channel (did you know Google owns YouTube? Bling bling baby, time to get that sweet sweet ad revenue!)

The question is: will they run at easy pace, steady pace, or steasy pace? Maybe breezy pace? Lots to discern in the land of DGR.

Boom! Seth does it again! nothing but net!
I've been want a "doing my taxes" vlog so badly for a while now. Seth's financial advice would no doubt be even worse than his running and nutrition advice.
"DOING MY TAXES (gone wrong)!!! Discerning how to defraud the IRS."

As an Australian I have a big soft spot for COFFEECLUB. They have a great team vibe and I love that the Southern Hemisphere gets represented. Helps that they’ve been doing so well too. And even though he’s the resident Kiwi I’m a huge George. He just seems like a top dude. Running with the boys won me over big time (also the only running vid I’ve ever paid for - Mike Smith should have his own YT series). I know Morgs comes on here to jokingly promote his new vids every now and then too.
Olli winning the Comm Games 1500 like he did hit me in the feels.
