After seeing 6 NIU distance athletes in the portal last week....it was kind of safe to assume lol
Most of these young ladies are looking to follow him. Saved you all a little time.
If that’s the case. It would appear they knew he was leaving and knew where he was going by entering the portal before he was announced.

You must be new here.
At this point, is anybody going to ask Devin West to do a symposium on how to get a job?

Dude can give a Master Class on the subject!! can he actually coach?, I now he is a tireless recruiter, but can he coach?
Western Illinois just posted for Head Track and Field position, what's happening there ? Head XC was posted weeks ago.

I think that is what he is being brought in for. To recruit tirelessly and not to coach a soul.
@babysitters club. Let me be your sitter on this. XC Coach left. They posted. Then while that was posted the Head Track Coach decided she was done. Now its all open. Why is that hard?

Because that’s what this profession is. It has very little to do with “coaching.” And that’s the lesson for the entire thread. Oh and not being a pain for your admin. But that’s a lesson for another day.

Wrong. At D3 and D2 that's definitely true for the most part, and even for a lot of smaller/poorly-funded D1s, but any program wanting to be competitive year in and year out knows that a great recruiter can only take you so far. If they have an off-year recruiting, the program takes a big hit, and eventually kids realize you can't develop athletes and stop buying what you're selling. The programs that are consistently dominating have coaches that can seemingly turn water into wine, and get total buy-in due to a strong team culture. They might whiff on the studs, but they constantly produce elite athletes by working with what they've got, and their kids often end up having better careers than those studs in the end. I definitely understand your point, but the schools this guy has worked at have severely under-performed due to the inability to develop their high school stars into collegiate stars.
Looks like Petros moved to Florida not Michigan. So is Michigan staff staying?

I'm more interested in how he just keeps getting bounced after a year.
He obviously has great references and has been back to places multiple times. Why does it seem like he can't stay in one spot for more then a year?
Does he just not get along with people or just get bored after a year?
Its not like he's living in terrible places either. Pretty interesting case study

That’s nice. That’s how I wish it were too. At all my stops, including the P5’s. Now please explain to us how Devin West keeps getting highly desirable, well paying jobs from respected head coaches who know how to win - who are also clearly aware he won’t stick around long.
Move on and let it go. Dude gets gigs because he's connected. Talks a good game and can recruit. His work at Airforce demonstrates coaching ability. Everything else is about being places that only needed recruiters, not an event coach.
For all those trying to figure out how broken the system is, let this sink in for a minute. 1. Devin recruits Tara to GA 2. Devin leave GA 3 Devin leaves ASU 4. Tara leaves Georgia for Texas and a big score for Devin as he used backchannels to get her there 5. UGA complains to UT about said tampering 6. Devin gets let go due to tampering and bad reflection on Flo 7. Tara sets records and wears cowboy hats and boots, Flo looks like hero. 8. Devin gets hired 3 jobs later at Georgia by the administrator who complained to Texas about his rule breaking. 9. All will act surprised when he leaves for a higher paying job or gets busted doing something he should not be doing.
Union College (KY) HC position will open soon
