Some nice athletes there, but anyone who thinks that constitutes the #1 recruiting class in the country is pretty myopic.
Lots of schools will score more points next year with athletes who were not on their rosters in 2016-17 than UCLA. That is the goal of recruiting - bring more points in than you lose.
I would love to see TnFN's recruiting class rankings compared to the rankings of schools based upon number of points scored the next year by athletes not on the previous year's roster. That would be a fun exercise!
Here is my take on these three jobs
LSU: Could attract some quality coaches who have success in the 800-1500m. They are looking for points in 800m, mile and the DMR at nationals. Don't expect big name XC person for this job as that's not the focus at LSU. DMR, 800, Mile is where you're going to make your money. Their top choice turned the job down a few weeks ago. I expect they'll have someone soon.
Florida: The last three coaches didn't last more than five years here so be careful what you ask for. They have put scholarship money into the women's distance program but it doesn't seem they historically put much money into the men's distance program. With all their national titles, why would this change. Expect them to hire an up and coming young coach. Only chance they'll get a "name" person is if that person doesn't have a job and needs one.
Auburn: My opinion the best job of the three. They have been better than LSU and UF overall in XC because they'll put more scholarship money into it. Also it is the one of the three schools that doesn't seem that have unrealistic expectations. Coach Spry had a solid year in track with his new 400m group so I don't see him going anywhere. So I say War-Damn-Eagle!

I think you bring a lot of good points about these but I disagree on a few things. Let me chime in.
LSU: You pretty much hit the nail on the head. MD points on the track. If that somehow translates to an improvement in XC then so be it. But dont expect them to really care about that (at least to the point of putting money into xc impact players). Hire has been made from my understanding.
Florida: It seems from looking at their roster that there is a lot of money in the women that hasnt panned out. Not much at all in the guys and that wont change. I disagree about them hiring a young guy though. Why? Because theyve won 4 out of the last 6 national titles. Some big name will take the job just for that fact alone.
Auburn: Best job as far potential for building a solid distance program, but worst job in the sense that they wont give you the resources to do it. It seems like every few years the word the on the street is the staff is getting fired. But then Spry always find him a few studs to help him get the job done. I could totally see them moving away from distance all together and putting all the money in Jamaican sprinters because thats what has scored them points in the past.
When do you expect a recruiting class to score, and where? PAC12s? Nationals? Big difference. And what year? Freshman year? Many big schools have all their freshmen red-shirt first year.
So please elaborate on your BIG 5 experience with recruiting.

Wait what? Lol. No big schools do not redshirt all freshmen. They bring them in to score from day one barring some form of injury or other setback.
Score at conference as freshmen and qualify for NC's is the goal. If you are at a Power 5 school and offering money to kids that can't meet those criteria then you are recruiting the wrong ones.
