Yes, it is a hypothesis that can't be tested. It eliminates the problem by logically 'defining it away' and basically shifts the burden to anyone who wants to change that definition. It reminds me of a time when people said that PEDs could not improve baseball performance. A lot of people really said that in the 90s. After a while, it became clear that those people were avoiding the discussion for various reasons, nione of them very good. This is a bit like saying that a PED might help a 95 mph pitcher get better but a 98 mph pitchers have such a developed ability that PEDs could not help them perform.

You don't consider the fact that the best athletes living and training in altitude are already able to increase their total volume of blood of about 1.5 liter, using only 4 months of tough and proper aerobic training at high intensity.

This increase of the volume of blood is not connected with any increase of the number of RBC, but with the increase of the plasma volume, and this fact help the blood circulation, reducing the viscosity.

I continue to explain that the top athletes, at the top of their shape, DON'T HAVE HIGH HCT AND HB, so there is not a real connection between the levels of Hct and Hb and the performance. The shape for top performances depends on several factors, and it's a big mistake to reduce everything to what is easy to detect, but is not significative when we speak about absolute top level.

That's the reason because I say that the first step for understanding the changes in the pyshiology of top runners is to study the effect of their training.

Only after this, when scientists can have exact picture of what happens inside the body (picture they don't have at the moment), it's possible to look at the POSSIBLE effects of doping.

The big difference between myself and some scientist is that I already know where it's possible to arrive for top clean athletes, instead they suppose the best performances depend on doping. This is the reason because I not only suppose, but in the most part of cases KNOW, that blood doping at max level doesn't produce any positive effect on performances of endurance, since I can't suppose that, if I gave EPO to many of my athletes, a lot of them could beat the WR of 10000 running under 26', or Shaheen could run 7'45" in steeple, or Moses Mosop could run 1:59 in Marathon (4' advantage).

I don't call myself in any way. Results are speaking. And I feel pity for your behaviour : having suspicions about everybody probably is not the best way for living.

If you don't have suspicions about a convicted doper, then I pity your naivety. With that one statement you've just erased any credibility you might have had about the topic of doping.

We (scientists) already know plasma volume increases in response to endurance training. We also know that living at altitude increases Hb levels. Generally, Depending on the two relative increases you may see an increase, decrease or no change in Hct.

That does not get around the fact that EPO stimulates red blood cell production. The direct effect of EPO may only last 2 months before levels return to baseline but the benefits from training at a higher level remain. It's well documented that the test is easy to beat, referring to Hct and Hb levels, urine tests etc. is not enough to lift the cloud of suspicion. Only a non-corrupt well funded anti-doping movement will suffice in returning confidence to the sport.

I would like to believe these superhuman performances can be done clean but the level of corruption makes it impossible to believe. In the case of Paula, it's simply a matter of statistics, her performance is far too much of an outlier to be considered genuine.
