Finding athletes that are good enough to compete better than mid-majors/at the big 12 level that are also willing to walk-on and pay $86,000 a year is not an easy task. Most of those athletes would be much more willing to take a scholarship at a mid-major and not go into $350,000 of debt just to say they ran for a power5 school.

It’s not easy but that’s what separates decent coaches from great coaches. You can get walk ons there or very low scholarship athletes and develop them. It may take a couple years under your system but they can develop. 19-20 min 5k XC girls can run 17:00 in 2-3 years if you know what you’re doing.

Show me a program that only takes 19-20 minute girls and currently has 5 at 17:00. I won't even set a roster limit.
