1) Um, the pandemic kept a lot of immigrants from coming here, both illegally and legally, and that WAS the right thing to do at that time.
2) Um, just like there was pent up demand for goods and services due to the pandemic, there is pent up demand for immigrants to want to come here post pandemic.
3) Um, Americans aren't producing enough other Americans, so we HAVE to have immigrants come here, and all of us want them to be legal immigrants...like the ones in Springfield, OH.
4) Um, of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, only Donald Trump has hired ILLEGAL immigrants.
5) Um, Biden and other Democrats had worked out a bi-partisan agreement for the most secure border policy ever, and the Orange Man you worship told Republicans not to support it so he could keep it as a cudgel against Biden (and now Harris).
6) Um, more people ALWAYS means more services are needed, etc. The fact is that legal immigrants commit fewer crimes than natural born American citizens, and ironically (and comically if it weren't so pathetic), Donald Trump has the gall to talk about criminals coming here when HE is a criminal. New polls are showing some momentum for Harris in PA and MI. WI is still very close, but Harris has been able to get 50% on several and Trump is stuck under 50%. But that is all within the margin of error. It may not be the old Blue Wall. More like a blue temporary fencing. But it looks like PA, MI and WI will be the way Harris gets 270. NC and GA are a dead heat. If either goes to Harris, she will win. AZ looks to be the only swing state that Trump is managing to hold a small lead and will probably be Trump's firebreak line. But NV is leaning to Harris.
Harris is doing a little bit better on her messaging for her economic plan. She is also visiting the boarder to try and push back on Trump's anti-immigration position. Trump gave her an opening to be the rational voice on immigration when he fell for the Haitians eating pets line (but the tik toks resulting therefrom are pretty great). Harris has gone to the right on immigration and the left wing of the party has pretty much conceded the issue on pragmatic grounds.
But the economic messaging is really the best bet Harris has to get the few thousand votes in swing states to lock up 270+. Young voters are the big wild card in this election. Trump's appeal is mostly to older voters who fall for his fear and anger rhetoric. Trump is losing badly with young voters who want a message of hope for the future. But young voters are very erratic on turnout. If Harris gets young voters to turn out in a big way, it may be a big win even in the electoral college. If young voters stay home, it will be a very close in the EC and Trump will have a narrow path to pull off another EC upset.

As an actual independent, which much of this country is BTW (you guys are the weirdo minority that actually goes out and votes and loves your candidate), I am still undecided but likely voting third party if I can find a decent one. No good options this year. Having said that, I'm not voting for Trump, but I'd rather he wins than Harris. But not supporting him, he is not a good option and will lead us to failure. Just not as much failure as the cackling catastrophe.
