Robert Young fakes run across America

If you go 2:15 into the latest video they posted, you can see how amazingly pasty white his upper body is. This is despite supposedly running shirtless for long stretches of the run in the middle of the summer:

Compare this to Barclay Ouderslays, a guy who ran from Santa Monica to Maine last summer:

Because that would be really stupid. The first thing they should do is watch from far away and record some of his cheating. Priority is to get more proof that he cheats, then it's more about keeping him honest for at least some of the time.

I wasn't able to meet up with the car wash owner yesterday, but hoping I can catch him today.

In the mean time, someone ought to calculate what kind of place he would have run to be 15 minutes behind the rv in Emporia (putting him at 6th and sunnyslope at 10:51pm), then being next to the rv near Lebo (the intersection of Fauna and old hwy 50 at approx 1:54am). Also, what would it be if he was only 5 or 10 minutes behind the rv in Emporia instead of 15?

I haven't closely followed his FB, but the only vid I've seen of him running lately (the one they posted the other night of him jogging at night, a few yards ahead of the van) looked to me like 12-minute pace. Barely faster than walking.

At mentioned way back at the beginning of this thread - the Geezers dispatched by the Ultralist did not set out with the intent to run with Mr. Young, but to observe his progress, unannounced, over several days to determine if he is actually running the distance and doing so at a rate that supports the daily mileage being posted during the first part of the venture. The idea was not to interfere in any manner with his effort.

Completely separate from the Geezer undertaking, Joe Fejes is planning to go run with Mr. Young at the end of this week - if Mr. Young gets back on his schedule, this should occur somewhere around the Ohio - WV line.

Just run with him, honestly and for the whole world to see. Film him running, map the runs and watch him eventually break down.

I guess "honesty" and transparency are unknown words to ultra runners.

I understand that decent runners come in all shapes and sizes. Elite ultra runners however carry no extra body fat and have that sinewy muscle look. This is not the physique of an elite ultra runner.

This whole thing is hilarious. A grown man hiding in a car crawling along the highway at 7 mph while two old guys stealthily driving/biking/running around with an infrared camera trying to film him.

My beer guzzling redneck neighbor looks better than him.

This whole story would make a tremendous ESPN 30 for 30 documentary. Focus on Roberts story while also discussion on cheating in general with long distance running.

Good work. The meaty story would be that his book is fiction. He would have completely covered up his backstory of being a competitive long-distance triathlete and doing other long endurance events for charity. The book implies he was a recreational runner who suddenly on a whim became an instant marathoner.
