We have a new 2024 vaccine thread here. New people don't need to try to wade through 20,000 posts to figure out what is going on.
Fisky; you have the time to be proactive about your health because you don’t work. Many Americans don’t have that luxury.
Good point. Yes, most Americans should just inject preservative-laden vaccines to go along with their preservative-laden foods and lifestyles. It really is just that easy.
LOL at thinking your granola bars aren’t preservative laden. Nice horse you have there.
Vitamin D is complicated. There are plenty of studies showing no result which makes me think the effect is most likely null. You absolutely should not be vitamin D deficient, but supplementing in excess does not have clear evidence. It’s definitely not borderline criminal to not suggest a treatment that isn’t proven to work.
On top this, basically all trials of vitamin D supplementation for outcomes outside of COVID fail too. The recommendations seems accurate: don’t be deficient. Nobody ever said anything against that.
Just as simple as getting some sunlight to lessen Covid eh? What are they going to come up with next, that the earth orbits the sun too?

Just talked to my daughter (the pre med) apparently she tried to ask about Vit D in a basic physiology class and was shut down by the professor… pharma has “their” hands everywhere.

I’m not surprised though. Vitamin D might be the domain of pharmacology, not so much physiology. She must be low IQ or just have really strong priors, you know what I mean?

Harambe,
Can you believe these TX “MDs” who successfully sued to get the FDA to cease and desist badmouthing Ivermectin in its indication for Covid? Nonetheless, we will continue fighting the good fight.

Thanks for posting these links. I've not had time to review the former, but I'm looking at the latter today. It's not surprising and it supports one of my core beliefs about supplements vs pharmaceuticals.
Pharmaceuticals designed to create short-term benefits. As a result, they act like a hammer to override the body's typical response to an illness. That's a good thing because the body's natural response sometimes can't muster a defense against the illness. When that happens, sometimes the hammer is necessary.
Vitamins and supplements usually work differently. They strengthen the bodies natural ability to fend off illnesses, often by repairing cellular damage, but some cells may be too damaged to repair. Providing proper nutrients can help to grow healthier new cells, but with the life span of some cells being weeks or longer, it can take that long for the benefits of supplementation to be realized.
With that in mind, let's look at the latter study.
This study eliminated patients who were taking supplemental vitamin D before admission so the benefits of prevention... 40% reduction of covid cases in the study I cited... aren't addressed in this study at all. Further, it did not any give vitamin D at the onset of symptoms.
It only gave supplemental vitamin D...
--- after the patient contracted covid
--- after the patient was admitted to the hospital
--- after the patient was moved to ICU
--- after the patient was put on ventilator
--- after permission was granted from next of kin to give the patient vitamin D or the placebo.
This would be the automotive equivalent of driving a car until the low oil light came on, failing to add oil, continuing to drive until it started smoking, continuing to drive until it started making noises, continuing to drive until the car can barely move, and then adding oil and concluding that adding oil wouldn't help because adding oil didn't solve the problem when the car was smoking, making noises, and could no longer drive.
The study was also too small to be statistically significant, but that's a minor issue compared to the above factors.
I'll take a look at the former study you linked to over the weekend. Again, thanks for taking the time to find and post them.

Oh yeah I’m sure the prof denied one of the essential nutrients. You realize pharma is the one selling the vitamin D pills you guzzle?

Sub-9 and moron shep always replying to each other is getting suspicious.
I had no doubt that sub-9 would eventually out himself as a fervent IVM supporter. Antivaxxers can’t help but believe the most debunked BS. It’s all or nothing. Lemme guess, ventilators killed people and Trump faked all the COVID deaths too. And viruses don’t exist.

Love your sarcasm. Touché. Who knew “big, bad Pharma” could bottle the sun?
These Swedish study, low IQ adherents😂. Thank God for you and me.

Harambe,
It was a classic move, stealing Sub-9’s handle. You must be high IQ!

High IQ in comparison to rats, but a crow would smoke him

I've finished my review on this one. These were pretty sick people as shown in the high mortality in the study's 14, 28 and 60 day follow-ups.
It's unfortunate that the authors couldn't get enough participants in their 60 day follow-up to show statistical significance. The 14-day and 28-day survival rates were about the same, but 60-day survival was 73% (15 deaths) vs only 59% (22 deaths) in the control group.

Yes, it’s a trial to test if vitamin D is an effect therapy for acute COVID. If everything people say about the biology is true, it should have had some effect. You could argue the effect would be larger if given earlier, but it should have done something. It didn’t.
I’ve yet to see a study that shows anything beyond observational correlations showing vitamin D levels in excess of sufficiency are helpful against COVID.
For example - this study shows a pretty weak correlation between mortality and vitamin D levels. Figure 5 does not convince me that vitamin D is a strongly determining factor.
Background: Much research shows that blood calcidiol (25(OH)D3) levels correlate strongly with SARS-CoV-2 infection severity. There is open discussion regarding whether low D3 is caused by the infection or if deficiency negat...

Unvaccinated healthy strong people, like myself, are living proof that you perpetrated the biggest scam in history.

Maybe vitamin D helps. The effect clearly isn’t huge as studies point different directions. If it was a miracle treatment you’d have a much more consistent and uniform signal.
There are, however, interventions that uniformly have strong results pointing one direction. The vaccines. Is it borderline criminal that antivaxxers did so much to downplay their effectiveness?

Yep. Anyone who didn’t minimally get the original series, the booster, and the bivalent should be charged with involuntary manslaughter. Natural immunity doesn’t grant impunity.
