At least the shoe reviews that Ed Bud is doing are real. He actually runs in the shoes, pays for them himself and his scoring system is reasonable not hyped up nonsense from the shodio

Seth has had a nice run. When he lived at the old house, won Pike’s Peak (did he win it twice in a row?) and he was tearing up mountain FKTs during the pandemic. The shoedio behind the carport was legit. Everyman vibe and very relatable.

The move to the new house, plus the sudden increase in everything (cars, kids, equipment, extra space, egg shots, big talk w/o results) made a lot of his viewers turn. They began to see that they had been hoodwinked, hence the extreme amount of general negativity surrounding his channel.

If he would stop with the act and come clean then that might be interesting again.

You’re overcomplicating things. LRC is mentioned frequently in the YouTube comments, and I’d bet some demoor viewers caught on about where the trolls were coming from. People here taking credit for the YouTube comments. Why not just let people infer that it’s a troll comment rather than giggling about it over here? That almost negates the troll effect anyway. The internet isn’t in silos.

for the 824th time, flying a drone is not illegal. flying a drone for commercial use is not illegal, it just requires you to take an FAA quiz and pay a couple bucks. I suppose it's possible Seth hasn't done this, but even so, the FAA has more important things to do than go after a youtube shoe guy.

C’mon now!!! There is no such thing as “Jay Jogging”. And even if there were, there’s no way you could kill more people doing that than crashing a police helicopter into a downtown building.

the issue is that he is unhinged. he lives in an echo chamber, populated by True Love, his fans, and his family. Seth has zero running friends. No one is out there giving him a hard time about excessive KT tape use, silly workouts, or scoffing at his nutritional choices. he’s made himself an echo chamber and now he’s wondering why his system is failing him. the answers are right in front of him (our comments here, for one), but he’s admitted he loves his “process” more than results.

this is all just one big carnival ride to him, but when is stops churning out money, there will be a reckoning. we can all smell it now.

He just needs an excuse to get out of the house and there is a reasonable concern that soon he has to take care of the kids instead of jogging up a 14er and sitting in a coffee shop.

wow, you can search for "drone laws" on youtube. Did you actually watch them? Which rule is he breaking?

IF you actually did watch them, you would know that flying drones is not illegal, that following the rules is dead simple, and even if you do get caught flying a drone for a monetized youtube channel, the FAA will politely contact you to let you know what is required. Hardly the crime of the century.

So I guess I'm defending Seth here because in this case he's not in the wrong. Or at least, he's not in the wrong assuming he has his part 107 license (granted, it wouldn't shock me in the least if he didn't, but I can't prove that). Commence knee-jerk downvotes!

he's not crashing a police helicopter into a downtown building, and that was a completely asinine scenario that the other poster suggested. he's flying a toy airplane about the size of a pigeon. it would instantly be chopped to bits if it hit a helicopter, and the helicopter wouldn't have a scratch on it.

Do you also think that birds would cause a helicopter to crash? Millions of lives are in danger because pigeons could crash into police helicopters!

I get the feeling he thinks he’s on par with the likes of Kilian (with thanks again to that TL delusion reinforcement). Aside from that fact that Kilian has been doing this since he was a sperm and is arguably the greatest ever mountain runner, the little Spaniard also has a degree in sports physiology so has an immeasurably greater knowledge of what the f**k he’s doing than a guy who either wings it under the guise of the “mad scientist” routine or does idiotic stuff like refer to a podcast from years ago where he can’t even remember the point he’s trying to make.

This post is spot on. IMO SJD was much easier to take seriously when he didn’t have all these cheesy catch phrases and presumably bought the shoes he reviewed.

I have to think Saucony is giving him a little something to keep pushing the Kinvara. I don’t see these as highly regarded by any other reviewer.

Are you sure about this? They were struggling to make ends meet while at the old house. Suddenly, he doesn't need to buy used shoes or drive for Uber any longer and they can purchase a nearly $1M house. If they are trust funders, their lifestyle would have been more even and comfortable back in the day. I suspect that the money came from another source and that it was a one-time lump sum. Based on his recent desperation and the overt solicitation of donations, I think that they spent that windfall assuming that the DGR social channels, merch, etc. would provide serious steady income going forward and that is not panning out.

You might be right. I just started "following" SD recently and it looked to me that he was 100% trust funded because you can't live from his silly content which nobody will ever go back to ever.

He absolutely thinks he's on Kilian's level. In previous years when he was getting ready for Pike's Peak, he'd say things like "Hey if I raced Kilian, you never know, you NEVER KNOW, ya know what I mean DGR??? I'm just saying!" And making those big dumb faces of his. Like it would be no big deal for him to keep up with one of the GOATs of the sport.
