There is no such thing as anti-trust laws. They may be on the books but they are not being enforced. We are going back to a feudal system. With large corporations acting as the Lords.

And, if this was so important, why did Obama wait until the 11th hour of his administration to enact it?

$5 might be a little steep but I'd pay 5 cents. To whom or what do I make my check out to?
If this made no difference the ISPs wouldn't have lobbied for it. They expect to make more money from the consumer at some point in time. This is a move to benefit the big donors at the expense of the consumer.
The internet has flourished despite the efforts of ISPs. If you think the telecom industry spent millions of dollars lobbying for this repeal to simply protect same fantasy level 'free market' then you are the most clueless Trump sac gobbling idiot on this board. Congrats you have just helped turn ISPs into the MaBells of the past and contributed to the GOP march towards zero consumer rights and a modern day feudal system.

Facts hurt, huh?
The most extreme version of Net Neutrality, known as "Common Carrier" status, exists for phone lines. Phone lines were seen as so valuable to the economy and community that regulations were imposed that basically said, "When you pay for access to a phone line, the phone company has no additional right or power to say how you can use it." Absent common carrier status, phone companies could, for example, have a tiered system where paying $X only lets you communicate via morse code, and $Y gives you access to "voice." It would also let the phone company charge you more money to call your Mom on Mother's day, or political offices it dislikes -- on the flip side, it could charge you less to call people it wants you to call.
This is also why there were so many internet providers for dial-up... because the line owners weren't able to pick and choose what consumers could use on the line.
So the spirit of "net neutrality" has been around for ages. Heck, it has existed anytime there is a bottleneck on the carrier of goods to the point that there is a risk that the service provider's selfishness will lead to artificially including itself in the business of others who rely on it.
Remember back before cell phones were so widespread? We had tons of little local companies offering phone service. They were allowed to use the big companies' hardware at controlled rates. Otherwise, they'd have to run their own cable, which is prohibitively expensive and the same issues Google has had in having to run their own fiber.
What we have now, thanks to the sitting president, is an effort to game the entire nation.
Obama's net neutrality regs allowed one group of huge corporations to be free riders at the expense of other corporations. That is all.
By repealing these regulations we go back a whopping 2 years in time, and Netflix may have to pony up some cash. Big whoop.
Obama's Net Neutrality regs? Are you 12?
Buried in yesterday's 'rollback of Obama's Net Neutrality regulations (quite a feat, given that Obama wasn't alive at the time), is another of Ajit's pet projects - given more power to AM radio. Meanwhile, elsewhere on Planet Earth (not the 1950s version of it):
The only explanation why any consumer would argue that this is a good idea is if their judgement is so skewed by being a member of "the Trump team" versus the "anti trump enemies" that they can not see any bad in what Trump does. Its radical us versus them thinking and they can't possibly agree with a position that brings comfort to the enemy. That (in their minds) would be disloyal.

I don't care what side of the fence you're on. This vote helps no one except the ISPs, and having the legislation in place hurt no one except the ISPs. This is pure and simple corruption. Disgusting.

Cash-generating websites would be taxed to support loser websites and loser points of view.

I love how people are defending this repeal...let's just give more power to the ISPs; those monopolistic or at best oligarchical corporations that collude with each other to cripple consumer choice. No other industry is more hated or anti-consumer than the Telecom industry. The big players (Comcast, AT&T, Verizon) all supported this repeal. Why? Because they will have no one to answer to!
This won't happen all at once, but over the next decade expect prices to raise, content choice to drop, innovation disappear, and customer service to continue to suck. Without these regulations we cannot trust ISPs. If we had a decent level of competition at the ISP level, then maybe these regulations would be unnecessary, but that's not the case in this country. Most people only have one or two choices for providers…
And I don't know what world you are living in if you think repealing these regulations will encourage ISPs to innovate their networks. That won't happen regardless.
Well stated. over turning the protection of this regulation will squash innovation and competition from the start ups. This regulation had been proactive preventing future charges and abuses. Our protections have been stripped away.
Using buzz phrases such as "heavy hand of government regulation" and Obama's regulation" has fooled the minions into thinking this was a bad rule. The minions didn't understand it was for their protection.
The passed this law to stop the potential of FUTURE abuses. Get it? Tell everyone with a straight face, that if Obama repealed the net neutrality law that you would be making the same posts in favor of the repeal. hahahahahahah........you lie, you know you would be posting how terrible it would be to repeal it. Oh you silly little boys.

You sir are so anti-Trump that you can complete a solid thought. Everything is blamed on Trump, not Obama the Liar. Pathetic. Your judgement was skewed by Obama for 8 years and you got taken like a sucker...Walmart shopper perhaps? Oh that's right, all of the Obama votes were by intelligent people---laughable!!!!!!!!!

There are likely some 12 year olds on this website because people start running before thst age sometimes. But how is that relevant?

Says the guy who is using buzz phrases to defend his position. Do you really not see that??

So you posted without commenting on the issue. Do you think repealing net neutrality was a good idea? (If you say no you are disloyal to the team)
I am going to guess you won't answer.
