Ajee Wilson loses her indoor 800 American record as the US beef supply contains a banned substance

Two thoughts on this matter:

1 - Perhaps this explains the superhuman performances of 2008-2009 Bolt! A professed devotee of McDonalds in training and competition during that time, is it possible that high doses of McNuggets and QPCs microdosed him with a variety of anabolic substances? We may have entered into a new paradigm with PENs (performance enhancing nuggs)

2 - I wonder if Mr. Salazar "taints" the meat consumed by his athletes within limits that would elicit no competition ban.

First thought = 5% truth/95% facetious

Second thought = 95% truth/5% facetious

1) If her blood had anything above a normal reading, she should have the record taken away. If you can't start at your baseline numbers with rules, then where else do you start?

2) I agree with not punishing her anymore than not giving her the record and returning any award money. It is pretty obvious that this was a random mistake and she did not do anything intentional. If anything she was punished by being told not to race until this matter was taken care of. She was obviously in great shape but was not allowed to race in any competitions, so she missed out on other prize money and possible contract bonuses.

3) For the future, some may think this is too harsh of a punishment, not enough or just the right amount, but you don't know what coach/athlete will come along and use certain chemicals purposely to gain an athletic advantage. There are probably 1,000's of ways to illegally boost your performance but if USADA announces when an athlete has tested positive, you are going to make the dopers pursue other drugs to cheat with. Not saying you will ever be able to catch all of the illegal drugs, but if the testing can prove that it can catch trace amounts of a substance, then the dopers may think twice before trying to cheat.

4) Her record should have had an asterisk next to it anyway since she used a rabbit. Using pacers to break the wind is a form of performance enhancement that not everyone is able to have access to. It's one thing when the race unfolds and a runner tucks in behind the leader to break the wind but it's another to put one or two pacers there on purpose. It may be a stretch but what is the difference with this scenario and the Breaking2 hour marathon event?

You can't be a big fan and go on a hate parade like this here. Ajee' is a spectacular person. If you knew her, followed her, ever spoke to her, spent time with her and her coach, you would know she would never dope. First, she won't cheat. She has been nothing but dignified in the face of racing against Semenya, Wambui and Nyonsaba, despite their unfair advantage. She's a class act and ambassador for the sport. She also would not do anything to cause long term damage to her health. She is simply not that kind of person. But you don't even care to know that. You'd rather just bury her.

She does everything right, and that includes being a kind and thoughtful human being who sees the best in people. People like you who choose to be utterly dismissive of her based on this incident really don't understand the basic concepts of humanity.

She is utterly devastated by this. She took the deal to lose the record and the money so she could move on with her career. No point in dragging out a fight when the consequence, though not insignificant, allows her to continue build on her success and do her best as an athlete and person.

As her coach said, it's like getting struck by lightening. I'm not surprised but still amazed that people would form a circle around such a spectacle and cheer for her demise. Says more about you and the others spewing hate here than anything else.

It's the same spiel with everyone...I don't care about their external character, everyone can cheat.

BTW, the reap what you sow comment should be geared toward crop farmers, not livestock farmers.

They should never have taken her American record away. She didn't do anything wrong. How the hell was she supposed to know that 80% of the Beef in USA is contaminated with growth promoters like zeranol. She took the drug test after having a big steak that was unknowingly contaminate. It not her fault. The week before she had a completely negative test. I hope she appeals their decision. She should start a gofundme page and we should all help pay her legal bills.

This definitely makes USADA look bad. Lipsey doesn't get the AR either because those morons didn't even test her. That's completely their fault. Yet they strip Wilson of the result because of beef. Nice job, USADA, nice job. Seems like an appropriate thing to protest.
