In August and September 1999, Lagat ran 3:30:56 and 3:30:61 and 3:32:30. Lagat graduated Washington State in 2000.

He ran those times in Europe fool. In college Lagat was much different meaning no where near 3:30. Kind of like Jenkins in my earlier post meaning great times in college but once in Europe within a couple of months being away from college he runs spectacular world class times.

This isnt about the source. This is about a 41 year old closing in 52 and winning tbe trials. I like Lagat but this is aals big a red flag as Dibaba.

Sounds like Wheating. A lot of people just get dragged into fast times to get their PRs. I also assume the Europe races had pacers, and the college races didn't. People throw out the 3:26 that Lagat did, but he was hanging on for dear life to El G, and that was 5 years after the 3:37.

That being said, who the f*ck knows? It's sad I can't just enjoy it.

I watched the live stream last night. At first I thought he was joking about Lagat, but then as he kept going I realized he was being serious. I asked him in the stream chat and he acknowledged that it wasn't a joke, and moved on to how El G was a doper and Lagat was right there behind him. I asked him about Kiprop and he brought up the issues with his agent, Federico Rosa, getting arrested last week. He thinks that based off Kiprop's ability to do things like open a 1500 in 53 and still run a PR he thinks he is doped.

Well if he knows something, why doesn't he just come out and show some proof. One thing is to talk sht here on the LRC boards because we think Mo or Rupp are dope is different than him as a professional runner and whistleblower on previous doping scandals. I honestly wouldnt be surprise if Lagat is/was doping. I think at that level everyone is doing something.

Why hate because your guy didn't make it. he could have easily took the race to them but he sat, knowing full well he couldn't out sprint him

Agree. Step back, and it is absolutely obvious. I remember seeing him back in the mid-90s at a College race ('96 or '97). He was very good for a college guy, but not that good. His former competitors all retired about ten years ago, as performances do get worse (not better) as you hit middle age (and nearly 42 is middle age!). He's totally juiced, and anyone with half a brain cell can see it.

I also resent people like Lagat taking spots from the clean, honest people. The sport is becoming a joke because of people like him.

Doper once, doper for life. Good on Torrence for keeping the conversation going, especially at this pivotal point in the track and field circuit.

who care about this B sample BS. Lagat tested positive in 2008 before the trials and most elites knew about it and couldn't do anything about it.

I hope this is finally the begging of the truth that come out about Lagat. He has stole to many dreams from deserving athletes.

This is so wrong. Statistics tell us that in one out of every 1/20 tests we will reject the null hypothesis (not clean) when in fact it is true. In other words we are bound to find some false positive A tests and therefore we must test the A and B samples to confidently identify cheaters.

And, you people should realize, that a positive A with negative B--an invalid sample--does cause greater scrutiny for future samples from the athlete. That is how the system works. Make sure the A+/B- test was a testing anomaly, and not a case of cheating.

There wasn't even an EPO test until 2001 and then it could still be beaten by micro dosing.

Oh yea - remember that time Lagat lied and competed for the wrong country in the Olympics?
