My buddy is a BCR, and he's in college. Working 2 jobs, babysitting his niece and nephews on the weekends, and kicking my ass in cross country. I myself am borderline yuppy, fortunate to get a good scholarship and student loans, but I'll have to pick up a job next semester to cover my rent.

BCR- Didn't go to footlocker because he/she had to work.

Well, I now have first hand experience with being a blue collar worker trying to run. For the past couple of months I've been working as a package handler for FedEx while in between jobs. I've always kept in really good upper body shape and good running shape but will tell you right now this job is kicking my ass. I work in the unload side which means you have to put 1059 packages on the belt in 1 hour. But really, if you're only pulling 1059 the shift manager is all over your ass telling you to roll the truck. It's really more like 1300 an hour. And it's mostly retail going through there so you're not looking at grammy's small cookie boxes. It's tires, mufflers, furniture, etc. I will be honest, if I run before my shift, I just can't keep up with the other guys. If I run after, it feels like an elephant is standing on my shoulders and I'm wearing concrete shoes. Anyway, I guess reading through this thread is amusing, but not true. A blue collar runner doesn't exist, or at the very least, they aren't busting out any good times. I hope I get hired soon, or I might just give up running for good, it's too painful anymore and my speed is gone. Anyway I'm just bummed out and wanted to put in my 2 cents for what it's worth, nothing.

PS If you are shipping something delicate/fragile through FedEx, UPS, DHL, or USPS and you care about it, save the "fragile" and "this way up" stickers and package it really, really well.

Great thing about running, the times remove the financial class system - its all left on the road! F appearances you can't hide the results!

Most people that run don't want to thin they're yuppie, but truth is running is a yuppy sport. If you're blue collar you proabably are to bust working to run. Blue collar today includes most of the service industry, along with what is left of what was the original blue colla working. Prefontaine was one of few blue collar runners in history.

BCR: Little traffic. Run right on the line and if some f***er pulls out in front of you? Run over his hood!

Well, you've confused me. McKewan's Scotch Ale is found here in the states. It does not have the word Export in the title, but of course it is imported from there. Drink McKewan's Scotch Ale in the US and you're a yuppie.
