Ok. So Loras has a 24:11 guy with a 15:04 track 5k PR. Well done to him, running his 5k PR and continuing 3k. Must've been a heck of a summer.

He must have found the cure for vaginitis... you should ask him about it

Yeah or how about Mike von borstel- 15:26 5k/33 10k. Ran 24:30. Not short at all, you're totally right man! Clearly, everyone in that race just got that much better! Hell, the way it looks, this might have well been nationals because clearly everyone here is sooooo good!
i can't prove it's not short, but i would also suggest it's been really dry in the east and all the courses are running fast because the ground is to dry. the times have been faster than normal on a lot of courses ths month.
What ever helps you sleep at night, bro... I know 100 mile weeks help mike Von borstel sleep at night... You might want to take note

No. It was short. Just accept that your PR was not real and move on.
thank you

just because all the nesca schools can't run an 8k near or faster than 10k race pace doesn't mean other people can't. try training in the summer next time and maybe you won't DFL at nationals this year.
I measured the course with a wheel before the meet and it was 60 meters long.
Based on a quick look, out of the top 10:
1st PR'd by a minute
2nd PR'd by 43 seconds
3rd PR'd by 58 seconds
4th PR'd by 73 seconds
5th PR'd by 63 seconds
6th PR'd by 60 seconds
7th PR'd by 76 seconds
8th PR'd by 86 seconds
9th PR'd by 40 seconds
10th PR'd by 82 seconds.
What a day to run!

Clearly way short, wonder if they'll adjust for Nationals

Hope so. It would be a shame if D3 nationals couldn't even run a legit course.
Just finished measuring the course on google maps for the 5th time, its 7.98K... so you are right, it is slightly short, adjust the times by approximately 4-6 seconds
Ron lined the course with one line, like he does at his home meet. Kids cut every turn on the turn-filled course. Nc looked great!
I realize that you really, really, really want your PR to be legit. But no. It's not. I'm sorry.
Do you want a lollipop or something to help you get over this?
Nah, your mom has already helped enough, generosity must run in your family...

You're an idiot. Summer training can't be the reason that people ran a minute or more faster than they did at races two weeks ago.
Aside from that, NCC's spread was about the same as two weeks ago. Obviously they are strong, but they were so much faster because of the course, not because of improvements in fitness.

Oh, Google Maps? That is definitely the most accurate way to measure a course! I can't believe race directors haven't thought of this before. They've been wasting so much time over the years using a wheel, when they could just click on a pixelated map a couple times.
When using google maps, did you measure the tangents, or the center of the course?
I measured the course the day before with GPS (so obviously not the most accurate) and it was only .05 mile short.
In talking with some coaches that measured it (namely Bridgewater's coach) they measured the course to be .1 mile cutting corners.
My time was a huge PR, but the course is also just built to be fast. Short bumps to climb then longer straights to race down. There was also enough people clumped together throughout that it would be almost impossible to take the absolute shortest path each turn due to people being in your way.
It was just a good day for racing in Ohio today. The key will be to see if anyone can come close to their time at their next race.
