University of Toledo Coach Hadsell Resigns

My team could totally use him!

If she wasn't on the team and I am being Ignor.... Why did she take free tuition for so many months? Didn't know what to do? Wasn't good enough to go pro yet? Used Toledo Cross Country and Hadsell's coaching to become great enough to be better then Toledo?

She was like a Graduate Assistant in the Fall XC season, and traveled to Boston to race in a Pro Road Race as an amateur racer.

Was picked to race in Japan for the USA Team in a Co-Ed Relay Race!

Putting the pieces together, she was in Boston at the US 10k road race with Hadsell when the "I'm into you" texts occurred. It's funny that Deadspin and the Blade didn't make that connection.

I actually always assumed Shook and KH had a thing. I have zero evidence to support this, it just looked that way being around the two.

If the members of the Toledo team followed Hadsell out the door in a big conga line, the average SAT/ACT score of everyone left at that school would skyrocket into Harvard/Stanford range. Hi Obsevant, this is Megan. I haven't posted on this thread. I've been keeping up with it because I'm interested in what people are saying. It's funny because I know the entire truth about this whole situation since all of the people involved were really close to me. It's amusing to me what you all are saying. I'm not going to get involved with people who don't really know the full story. Thanks for the shout out though!

Kertesz had indoor and outdoor eligibility left. No XC- so she ran at USA 5k and 10k road racing championships and was then selected for the Chiba in November. From reading the deadspin texts- she was dealing with a coach coming onto her the night before a national championship event. October 8th was 10k. That would make anyone uncomfortable.

Rumor has it (or from what I've read on let'srun?) that Kertesz tried to quit after the Fall semester and apparently did and then didn't? A bit confusing there. Deadspin alludes to some guilting from Hadsell to keep her in the program. Regardless; I'd also want to quit if my coach was sexting I mean texting me those things the night before a big race.

From the other thread Kurtesz apparently sent Hadsell over 500 texts in October. If true I believe that's about 17, 18 a day. And she was usually the initiator. So I don't think she was averse to being "bothered" the night before a big race. And hell I just checked and she kicked major butt there, 32:51? How could I have never heard of this runner? Shame it had to be now with all this bullshit!

KMB is the only person that ANYONE should be listening to in this entire thread. Hadsell has his 1100 text phone message history including time stamps on every texting convo between kurtesz and Hadsell in October. Therefore her deleting texts will be apparent.... if he was again so called "harassing" her.. wouldn't their be texts leading up to her quitting the team in December. Why does it only exist in October? No November and December texts? ODD. If Kurtesz was getting harassed why is she initiating all of these texts?

Well, I've read all 11 pages so far and I think the following is the best post I've read. Taken from the Toledo Blade:

Emma Kertesz is my sister...I am very proud of her to come forward and stand up against someone who thought they could abuse their authority. My sister has put her heart and soul into running for Toledo for the last 4.5 years as well as helping her so called "coach" win MAC Championships all the while she felt cornered by a man that was supposed to be a role model and mentor. And what is more sad is that she is even still giving him respect in the newspaper for all that she has accomplished...shame on him. It doesn't matter if she is 22 or 92, he is a coach, he is a true adult that preyed on young women who are just starting out in life, who trusted that he would help them accomplish great things by coming to run for Toledo...Toledo is my Alma Mater and I am ashamed that this happened...and I'm sure that Emma is not his only victim...Emma, you are what a role model is and I am very proud that you are my sister! I hope if there are other girls he has victimized come forward. -Erin Westfall

And to add my two cents, all this leave it alone, let the healing begin, etc...is a bunch of crap. If you were victimized, say so, own it and speak loudly because YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Otherwise, you will carry it with you forever. And that's not going to feel very good.
