I mean, how f***ing retarded do you have to be to have typed that down in the comments section, and not only that, but then look at it and say, "well that seems right!" Do you have any idea of the ACTUAL nature of logical thinking? THE COMPLETE f***ING OPPOSITE of what you just said, that's how you're supposed to think logically. One of the central principles of logic is Occam's Razor, which states that if both answers have equal explanatory value, you choose the simpler one. But you, having such a simple mind that you can't even grasp that concept, say "WELL ILL JEST CHOOZE THU SUMTHIN OVER THU NUTHIN!" And it gets even better, because you backed it up by claiming to be a "logical man"! You people, you who just have no f***ing grasp on reality, and declare yourself logical for failing to understand even basic, kindergarten logic, you disgust me. The thing that is really sad about Ryan Hall is that he reminds us of our own failures. Ryan is the best we have and if he can't win a major race how will we? His failures hit a chord with our internal ego, and it is devestating.

Everytime I see him race I have flashbacks to my own races, my own dissapointments. Failures like PRing by 20 seconds in the 5k and still getting blasted in the last lap by some kid from Eldorett or any other time we compete to the max of our ability and still get manhandled. Ryan is far more talented than me and watching him fail is the most devestating thing to ever happen to my running psych. Everytime he loses we wonder why we run. This supertalent, this Highschool and NCAA all star who blows the rest of us away at the trials and has every advantage an American can have is easily put away by some hut dwelling corn eating teen from Iten.

So to you who wonder why we are obsessed with Ryan Hall, maybe you should wonder why you aren't. He symbolizes the best any of us can do at this point.

to me, he symbolizes the unbalanced runners that stanford has been producing. what is up with a program that gives us jennings, stember, and hall within a decade? At least Jennings was entertaining as he squandered his vast talents. What kind of nutcase would say that God was his coach? To Hall: there are great coaches out there. Go find one, work on your track speed and then get back up to the marathon when you're reconnected with what got you sub 1 and 2:06:17.

This whole thread is an object lesson in the small-mindedness that pervades Letsrun. A laff a minute, actually, in the aftermath of 2:04 high.

My favorite is: "Terrible decision. This is the beginning of the end for his career. You can only push yourself so much while training alone, you need a group and a coach. Once he realizes this he'll attempt to join up with a group and coach, but the other runners who are getting better every day will be too far ahead. Pretty sad if you ask me what a waste of talent."

Anonymous posting has one evident advantage: idiocies like this are beyond cheap. They're effortless and without a trace of accountability.
