I guess you've missed most of the thread. I did pick a side. Pretty sure I've said 3 or 4 times now I think he's clean.

I believe Armstrong was clean. Landis has told so many different stories that it is not possible for a reasonable person to believe any of them. Does he need money again, is he writing a book? Another fifteen minutes of fame?
He and Ben Johnson have much in common. They can't keep their stories straight and so none of it is believeable..
anytime I hear someone say something as ignorant as "HE NEVER TESTED POSITIVE" I realize that I am dealing with someone that has no clue involving pro athletes.

Yeah, not all syringes have needles. When vets give oral medication to animals, they sometimes use a syringe with a nozzle tip about the size of a toothpaste tube opening.

Interesting. In general, the only legitimate basis for not answering a deposition question is the assertion of a recognized privilege. Here, the only privileges that come to mind are the constitutional privilege against self-incrimination and the rather esoteric spousal privilege that historically prevented wives from providing incriminating testimony against their husbands under English common law and that still exists in various forms in a number of U.S. jurisdictions. I'm curious if Herman actually stated the basis for his instruction not to answer the question.
It seems to me that the most fruitful route for breaking the conspiracy of silence in the U.S. is through compelled testimony in depositions or, if a criminal investigation is opened, grand jury proceedings (which is largely what brought down Barry Bonds).

I think we have already been through this before with the clemens/trainer spectacle. I'm just waiting for the same united states representatives to start supporting armstrong and attacking witnesses. Lance may be even more of an untouchable than clemens is. Must be nice

I'm guessing it was spousal privilege, as I am sure you know this covers testimony regarding the time that spouses are married, which ostensibly is when she would have witnessed this...It also seems like a possible conflict that this attorney has represented Armstrong also.

How come the most important part of the email has not been covered by the media, isn't this plain old fraud?:

I think the biggest allegation is that Lance was busted for testing positive and then bribed his way out of it. If that could be proven to be true it would be the death knell for the current structure of UCI. Have to wipe the slate clean and start w/ somthing else.
Right, but why has the press not jumped all over the place with this fraud allegation?
If it ends up not being true, it will for sure destroy Floyd's credibility on all other points. Isn't it strange that Lance's PR team has not jumped all over this claim.
Armstrong to be joined by all-star pacers at NYC Marathon

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lance Armstrong will get a little help from an all-star cast of distance runners past and present when he makes his marathon debut Sunday.
Armstrong, who relied on the support of teammates to win a record seven straight Tour de France titles, will be paced by former marathon champions Alberto Salazar and Joan Benoit Samuelson, as well as reigning Olympic 1,500- and 5,000-meter gold medalist Hicham El Guerrouj, in the New York race.
"I wouldn't do it for anybody else," said Salazar, the last American winner of the New York City Marathon, way back in 1982. "I just wanted to spend some time with him."
The 48-year-old Salazar will run the first 10 miles of the race with Armstrong. The 49-year-old Samuelson, who won the first Olympic women's marathon at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, will run the next 10. El Guerrouj then will do 6 miles with Armstrong, who will be on his own for the final stretch of the 26.2-mile race.
The three will try to keep Armstrong, who ran triathlons as a teenager but never has attempted a marathon, to a 7-minute-per-mile pace.
Salazar, who works in the running department at Nike, resumed training when given the chance to run with Armstrong. He has been running 5 miles a day, six times a week, and is confident he can get through the first 10 miles. But that'll be it for the three-time New York winner.
"I'm kind of the slow link in this group, I'm an old man now," Salazar joked in a telephone interview Thursday from his Portland, Ore., office. "To try to go the full distance would be tough."
Armstrong has said he hopes to finish the race in under 3 hours. He will be running in large part to raise awareness and money for his foundation and for cancer research.
