(No, there were no classes on spelling and grammar.)
At that time (about 20 yrs ago), the program was not what it is right now. It was easy to walk on (I will admit I had some inside connections) but you simply didn't get much attention.
I have no idea how it is now under Marcus, but I'd bet it isn't the same.

They do not accept federal money so as to be free academically. That is why the unionized college profs do not like them. The students at Grove City receive their student loans from private banks, unsubsidized and unrelated to the federal govt. educational system.
Actually, that didn't take place until around 1984 (financial aid department required to adhere to federal Title IX requirements because individual students accepted federal financial aid)/1988 (students not allowed to take federal financial aid, including Stafford loans).
From Wikipedia:
Since 1963, the American Association of University Professors, an organization that represents the interests of college professors, has placed Grove City under censure for violations of tenure and academic freedom. In fact, Grove City has the distinction of having been on the AAUP's list of censured administrations longer than any other college that is currently censured. In its report, the AAUP Investigative Committee at Grove City concluded that "the absence of due process [in the dismissal of professors at Grove City] raises...doubts regarding the academic security of any persons who may hold appointment at Grove City College under existing administrative practice. These doubts are of an order of magnitude which obliges us to report them to the academic profession at large."[10][11]
As an outsider who has observed Grove City only long past my college days at Ohio State I can attest that there are few if any institutions of higher learning more committed to constitutional principles like due process and equal protection. An endless parade of guest speakers and educators appear there to fortify these ideals and the faculty is unique in publishing every year in those areas. Notice that the censure mentioned above deals with job 'security' in an era where accountability for academic malfeasance is almost nonexistent.
Ironically, I learned today from a Christmas card that a talented wind musician on our block with many sholarship opportunities has committed to Grove City.

Therfore? Does your post apply?
This is a load of crap anyway, CoachB! Bad grammar and spelling doesn't mean an idea hasn't been thought through. It is more credible to realize that bad habits were not corrected properly in the formative years for these people. TherEfore, I disagree with your assertion.

I'll never correct anyone's grammar, unless my paycheck depends on it or it's my kids' homework.

I graduated from there in '86 (Biochem). Unless things have changed drastically I'd say about half.

Didn't run (wasn't fast enough). Now I wish I would have gone somewhere where I could have run. 15 years later I am still running 16's for a 5k and I wonder how fast I could have been.

I didn't start running until I was in my mid 30s, and though I loved football, being 5'11 and 150lbs wasn't going to qualify me for anything other than a kicker (which I couldn't do anyway).
Oops, my bad, Harvard is 3rd not 4th. GU SFS is still #1 at the grad and undergrad levels in IR as rated by peer schools. So yeah, I do sleep better.

"Scholars were also asked for the first time to identify the best places for undergraduates interested in studying international relations. Georgetown earned the fourth highest number of votes in this area, above Columbia and Yale universities. Harvard, Princeton and Stanford universities placed first, second and third respectively."
Perhaps I'm just missing something . . . .
(The GU #1 ranking, according to the article, was only for a terminal master's degree program, not undergraduate or doctoral studies. Not that any of that should affect your sleep one iota.)
That's passe. Studying at those schools teaches outdated Old Eur and is obsolete. UC Irvine has the best Int'l Relations for the New World Order, India, Japan, China, Russia, Arab World. My kid went to UC Irvine and now lives in Tokyo.
Bounced around a little bit, but finished undergrad at Cal State San Marcos (North County San Diego). Did not compete there because I was coaching high school at the time. BS in Kinesiology (Applied Exercise Science). Currently working on MA in Kinesiology at Cal State Chico.
