I have mentioned before Hall is the real deal in terms of truly enjoying the ascetic of running (which he expresses through his Christian faith).
Here is zipping along at 29:40 10K pace in a marathon and he turns and encourages the Hoyts - the father/son team that competes to raise money and awareness of disabilities of the Hoyt son.
Easy to criticize him - and the Christian thing is not my cup of tea, but he is an admirable guy.
Hall did another little drop back/to the side, thing, Asfa (sp) leading. 9 miles probably about 43:10, since Hall checked his watch.

Women past halfway, hit a mat in something like 1:14:30. Maybe that was 20k, should know soon from the boston website (lestrun's blog linked to it).
Is Kara really that tall, or are the africans really short? she is a head and shoulders above them (height wise)

Never. She's just going to hang in there and hope. As an announcer mentioned earlier, AlSal said she'd run 3 hours if she had to.

A few things.
The men's pace isn't suicidal despite Larry Rawson says. The first part is way downhill.
The men's and women's races are going to finish very near each other which is going to be annoying from a viewers standpoint as they'll be talking about both races. They need to have them finish 20 minutes apart.
10:48 - 1:14:15 for 20k for the ladies (according to us not them). 18:34 for the last 5k. Still slow. They just said they are past the half-way mark. Last time we checked the m arathon halfway mark was 21.1 km.

Men are on 2:06:11 pace through 15k. Still a CR, but pace is getting more reasonable.

At one point, a couple years back, I was reading some of Hall's journals, and they were intensely Christian, but somehow still not preachy or condescending. He just seemed like a really cool guy, and even as a very secular person, there was something I really admired about his faith. I thought of starting a Letsrun thread titled "Agnostics for Ryan Hall," but never did. I don't really know what the point of it would have been, other than just to emphasize that non-practicing Christians can think that devout Christians are cool.
Is the race on TV at all? the Online coverage is crap for me. If it's on TV i'm going home for lunch to watch the second half.
