Bauhs race was amazing to watch. Rono had a commanding lead throughout the race, but Scott really pushed that last 2k, closed a 10 second gap and passed Rono around 400 to go and it was over from there. There was some talk that Bauhs, given a long summer (Olympic trials) and the hot streak Rono was on (shattered Meb’s course record at Balboa Park), was going to lose this race. Just shows how tenacious this guy is…
Chico turned in an average performance at Stanford. There 2-5 gap is way to big, but I think they have a lot of room for improvement given nats is in 8 weeks. If they can close that 2-5 gap they will be solid.
Seeing that Adam State whooped on BYU and Chico was thoroughly beaten by BYU two weeks ago in San Diego, ASU is in champion fitness. However, the real race is 8 weeks from now. Can ASU hold their form till then?
Things to look forward to next week at Willamette Invite:
Rono vs. Bauhs II
Chico vs. Alaska Anchorage
