I have NEVER felt as embarrassed to have gone to a lower division school than I do when perusing this thread. You crybabies are pathetic. Go train and run fast if you are in such dire need of respect for your great running.
After this thread, I'd say that one would be right to not only question the physical depth of DII, III, and NAIA, but also these students' emotional and intellectual stability as well.
I ran DII and enjoyed it thorougly. I didn't make nationals. I think I had more fun and a better experience than I would have at a DI school. I just marked "cool" on the poll because I really could care less if it's called baby nationals. People don't care as much about it. The athletes, on the whole, aren't as high caliber. There's nothing wrong with that.
Fully agree with the last poster. I think it as dumb for Wejo to call it Baby Nationals, mainly because he is pissing off others who love the sport, but come one everyone, let's relax. We ran in lower divisions, and we know the competition wasnt as strong. No big deal. We loved it. Sure, I think Wejo made a blooper, and is probably feeling dumb about it right now, but dont we all say things like that from time to time. Cut Wejo some slack, and Wejo, be more careful about what you write.
But all that to say, let's all relax and remember that we are all runners. And if it gives any consolation, we are not enemies of eachother, but instead, we are all, DI or DIII runner, fighting against the fleshy joggers who love to ask us those boneheaded questions like: "Have you ever run a marathon before?" or make statements like: "I cant run that pace for a mile!!"

Wejo is either insecure, or has a really horrible sense of humor (both of which are probably true. I can confirm the poor sense of humor). So who cares what he thinks. Oh my god he's run 28:06. Lets all look at him like what he thinks matters.
Honestly if I wanted training advice, he would probably be someone I'd talk to. I have a lot of respect for what Wejo has done as a runner. But that doesn't mean I care about his opinion on lesser runners. He can hate on us all he wants. It just brings out his own insecurities.

I think this thread highlights not Wejo's insecurities but those of lesser runners who have not come to grips with the fact that not all men are created equally. As Wejo said, we're all running in circles anyway. Some people are good at it. Some aren't. End of the day, each of us has to be able to look in the mirror and accept how good or bad we are. A lot of the people on this message board are not able to do that, which in my mind is quite funny - especially the fellow attempting to spark a letsrun boycott. Like someone else said, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Don't hate on having standards of excellence. Sports are not about participation and all that bullshit. Its about winners and losers. To my mind, thats pretty cool. Thats why I love running, because its so freaking easy and obvious - there is no arguing with a clock.
As a DIII runner I'm happy with where I stand. I work my ass off but I have a very active life outside of distance running. But in the end, I suck at running...I really could care less, because I love doing it.
