I do remember you from Birmingham and I remember that you pulled it off nicely. I had no problems identifying my bottles or getting them--they were all located where you said they would be.
I am not sure why these guys @ NYRRC, didn't contact you if they were having logistical problems with the fluids program? However, I guess they have it under control at this time?

Thanks for the post Steve. You did a great job at all those races, I was there to see it in person. It is a shame, perhaps even a crime, that you weren't asked this time. That is the nature of the NYRR.
The fact that we are even dealing with this issue shows a lack of concern by teh NYRR. don't give me the crap about them stepping up and solving the problem. They created the problem!
Someone please explain the entry fee for the race?????
A major part of the bid is affordable housing for participants and their families. $399 a night??? Who negotiated this mess?????
I am neither for or against the fluid to A and B qualifiers, but I do want to add my .02. Maybe they didnt contact you for a reason? I dont know.

How exciting is the start of a marathon? Seems it's more TV worthy than the Finish of the race according to the NYRRC. How much of the 30 minute show will be a Gary Murkhe shoestore promo?. Will they have agegroup awards?

Honestly, I think it should be left to the quailifers to determine if the evnt is/was a success or not?
Simply have letsrun posters come up with a legitamate questionnaire on the event and then have all qualifiers fill it out. Additonally, have them grade the event!
Afterwards, the results can be posted and future bidders of the USOT 26.2 can use it.
I am sure Weldon, can figure out how to implement this to ensure it is done correctly.
A phone call to the Marriott on 92 st got me a rackrate quote of $299 per night this weekend 2 people king bed.

NBC is wayyyy too smart to put on the OT marathon in place of any ND game. Hell, even ND practice film would outdraw the OT marathon.

Steve, yes your organization and personal attention to each and every Trials participant in Birmingham was more than impressive, it was simple amazing.
I find it very hard to believe that the NYRRC made this decision after "discussing it with B qualifiers." Maybe they found one B guy who was willing to say "I just need plastic cups of tepid water."
Just the fact that the NYRRC even thought about not giving special drink privileges to B qualifiers says a lot about them and their people.

That's not the point. The point is the NYRR and the incompetent leadership of USATF promised us an event of unprecedented quality in every aspect. Instead we get more of the same, or in this case, an inferior product.
