Going by current titles and current form, who is better than Hocker?
Going by current titles and present form, at least two guys are better than Hocker. He has Oly Gold 2024 (18 months ago), WC Gold 2025, no other wins of note, only one impressive time in 2025 1:45🥹 / 3:30🥱 / 7:23👍 / 12:57🥱, consistent loser and looking cooked in his best event).
Jakob Kiplimo
- Reigning Chicago Marathon champion (2:02:23) - Reigning 3x XC World Champion - 2025 times 56:42 / 2:02:23 - Consistent winner in his best event
You're claiming that a guy (Kiplimo) who never won gold on the track has better current titles than the Reigning Olympic Champion and Reigning World Champion.
and you're claiming that a guy (Gressier) who lost three of his last four races, including the World Championship 5000 to Hocker, is currently better than Hocker.

Can you read?
1. It's not my "claim"; it is the ranking of World Athletics, who currently has Kiplimo ranked 27th and Hocker ranked... 48th, also behind Laros, Fisher, Gressier, Habz, and Nader.
We can argue all day about whether you think the Hokie Invitational is more important that World XC. Or we can use an objective scoring system. And according to that system, which is a lot more meaningful than either of our opinions (but reflects mine), Kiplimo is much better as of today's scoring.
As for "titles"...
Jakob Kiplimo - Reigning Chicago Marathon champion (2:02:23) - Reigning 3x XC World Champion 2023/2024/2026 - Consistent winner in his best event
Hocker 2055 🥹🥹🥹 - Gold 2024 (18 months ago, but OK keep talking about it to pretend he's even top-3) - WC Gold 2025, no other wins of note, lifetime - 9 consecutive losses in the 1500/mile
Looking at the past 12 months:
Kiplimo: Chicago + World XC >>> WC x1 Gressier: WC Gold + WC Bronze + DL final gold >>> WC x1
Kiplimo and Gressier both have loads of big wins in the past year. Hocker has...one. Your guy is just too fluky to really be a world #1, as reflected in his poor WA rankings.
In the 1500, the facts show that he popped up in Aug 2024 then never did anything impressive after that at the distance. And Fisher/Gressier are way better in the 5/10.
Are you talking about the dumb rankings that have Fisher above Hocker in the 5000 even though Hocker beat Fisher in that event at both the US Championships and the World Championships?
Are you still trying to put Kiplimo's titles on the same level as Hocker's? And claiming that a guy who got 15th in his last race is currently better than Hocker?

Kiplimo past year 💪💪💪 - London marathon 2nd (2:03 debut) - Chicago Marathon champion - XC World Champion (three-peating) - Buenas Aires HM champion (58:29⚡) - Global elite times: 56:42, 2:02:23
Hocker past year🥹🥹🥹 - WC Gold 2025 - Millrose indoor 2-mile win (8:07🙄😴) - No other wins of note - Pedestrian times: 1:45💩 / 3:30🥱 / 12:57🥱
It's very clear who is more impressive here.
In the past 12 months, Hocker has done exactly two impressive things, and that's being generous to count the slow Millrose win. (He has also lost countless races.)
Kiplimo has had four impressive performances, literally every time he touched a starting line. His only "loss" was a 2:03 debut marathon.
Sure, Kiplimo can run fast in time trial conditions on fast courses with good weather. He's really good on time, until it's time to kick on the track against the best competition in the world in a global championship race!

Dumbest post I've seen all day.
😂😂😂😂😂
"Time trial conditions on fast courses in good weather" ...???
Um...like...
- a cross-country race?
- in 27C/80F temperatures?
- on a course where most ran over 2:00 over their 10k PBs?
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
You are truly proving yourself to be in the double-digit IQ club.
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Kiplimo is a XC beast, and XC is obviously racing not time-trailing. World XC was of course the very opposite of a time trial (in hot weather), while Hockerspent January time-trialing on climate-controlled tuned tracks, of course with concierge pacers (that he was too scared to follow).

Rojo or mods can you ban this guy?
I thought he might be the430miler posting under another name, but I’m doubting it now. He’s at least smarter than 430 even if he is just irritating.
World XC meant a lot more in March, when athletes could actually get in great shape for it. World XC in early January when none of the track studs are in top form?

That's what you do when you are losing the argument.

His laughable "argument" has already been soundly defeated. Finishing 8th in the Olympics and then spending the entire next year ducking the best competition on the track doesn't make someone #1.
To be #1, you need the best current titles and the best current form. Hocker is the clear #1 right now.

You haven't followed his argument. Also, someone who loses far more than he wins isn't the "best" at anything. And the best isn't decided by the best this week. An indoor race in the US in an indifferent time. That's pretty desperate.
It's better to lose against top tier competition than to avoid it entirely. Hocker won when it mattered most, and he's continued winning since then.
Both you and EHE seem to be more impressed by fast times run in time trials against weak competition than by someone winning tactical races against strong competition. Real fans know which one is more impressive.

Someone who dominates the distance events they compete in is superior to someone who only wins occasionally. End of argument.
