Jimmy Whelan paces leaders for 25km of Barcelona at 2:58s and then jogs to 40km. Looks like he has the engine to be good at the marathon. Excited to see him debut later this year. Surely our next 2:07-8 guy?
Won't be suprised if he goes low 60s, maybe even sub-60, in the Half at some point too. We'll have a better idea soon though, pretty sure he's doing Berlin half the next few weeks as a proper race.
Weird dynamic on the FTK Podcast where Joel has all but given up on running. Makes the training weeks segment a bit weird, especially since Brett was coaching him.
Also looks like Andy Buchanan has left the podcast too.

Where do you think Whelan end up running in Berlin?

Where do you think Whelan end up running in Berlin?
59:52 or better? Australian Record
1:00:27 or better? Top 3 ever
Sub 61? Top 8 ever
would love to see him run the Australian record.
I say 60:15 (top 3)
Up from his current 15th spot
His Barcelona run was impressive, so I think he has it in him to hold 2.50s for 21.1km. But I'll go with 60:30.... He'll take the Aussie record within 2 years though.
Is that the podcast where Brett whispers into the mic and Joel laughs really loud? Yeah I know that one….
The one where they have weird inside jokes from outside the podcast that they never actually explain and we're supposed to somehow understand them.
Also the one where Joel thought it would be interesting content for a whole month to detail the journey of getting fit to pace 3km of their coaching group's 5km track race. Snoozefest

I hope he commits to the 60:00 pace group. If there is an official split at 15km, he could break the old 42:47 Australian record on the way
Full startlists have been released today for the Maurie Plant Meet - Australia's biggest annual track meet. The only footy game on in Melb is Essendon Vs North at Marvel, so if they don't get a packed house, I don't know what to say.
Loaded fields, storylines everywhere. What are we keen for? Myers/Farken/Spencer/Anstey in the 1500 is huge, but i'm really keen to see chicken boi Morgs in the 3k against Seth and Stewy (hopefully Stewy's fit).

God I wish I'd read this first rather than battling RosterAthletics to see all the start lists.

The big question though: When are they going to rename the meet after someone who wasn't involved in doping coverups?
