This commentator pissing me off, It's not historic, Uganda won because of a visa issue, what a joke.
While you’re right, it puts the commentator in an awkward position. You’re can only commentate the race as it happens, not as it should have happened. She noted the visa problems, but it deflates the excitement to dwell on who isn’t there.
The announcer is really good. Shame she’s got so little to work with.
Pretty tough to try to cover a big event without a counterpart. There is usually a lot of banter between the commentators but she has nobody to talk to today. Much easier to fill "dead space" with a second commentator. Doing a very good job.
Time to see what Jackson Spencer can do on the world stage! Props to Daniel Skandera as well, youth record holder now homeschooler who has continued to perform well
Considering the incredible level of coverage that I've seen for high school level National events in the us, why is it this bad here? I mean, I'm canadian, but I've come to expect that the US is so capable of high level production- whose fault is this - IAAF or usatf?
The recent High School Nationals was gripping - I wasn't familiar with most of the athletes, but it was freaking awesome - it felt like the Olympics for both the kids and those watching the broadcast. I'd give up those stupid obstacles to see that level of coverage - even though I know that getting rid of the obstacles was not necessary if they'd had enough foresight to think this through a bit better.....
“Bad tactics”? She went out with the lead group of about 15 and finished 16th… You think she was going to run them down by starting even more conservative against this field?
Seemed to work for the Japanese runner who finished 14th. She was 10 seconds behind the leaders at 1k. Seriously, do you think going out at the same pace as people who finish more than 90 seconds before you in a ~20 minute race is optimal pacing?
That’s a fair point! I’m not glorifies tactics. I think she made a decision that she thought was best today. She will learn. For 16 year old on this stage - I respect her for racing and being competitive as she felt fit in that moment. Again, you made a valid point with how the Japanese runner finished.
I love Hannah - commenting that it's 22° and then apologizing for anyone who works in fahrenheit... even though we are in the US, one of the few holdovers, LOL.
