What does her sex have to do with anything? She is writing a book and making multiple serious accusations. People have a right to discuss it. If she wanted to stay out of the spotlight, she had many many opportunities to do so.
And still nobody has the answer to the question. If the coach and team were so bad and toxic why would the parents allow her sister to stay on the team?
Everything I have is 3rd hand information, but it sounds like Mary Cain was not a good teammate. Like it or not, high school track and field is a team sport, and the team aspect is what draws the majority of kids to it.
Imo, if you don't want to be part of a team, and won't run relays, go run for an AAU squad.
I have never had anybody who wouldn't lay it on the line for their teammates in a relay. But I've seen it with other teams. Those people aren't embraced by anybody but their parents, who are probably the ones who encourage the behavior. Thankfully I've only seen this behavior in rare cases.
of course, a coach has to be smart enough to not sabotage important invitational events for standout athletes, by having them run a 4x8 before their individual event.

I was bullied by the volleyball team so I found my tribe in track/XC. I’m not saying bullying is ok; it’s not and I really wish parents did more about it. But I’m also firmly ensconced in middle age and I dunno, move on? Deal with it in therapy? I’m assuming assault wasn’t involved.
It’s just difficult for me to figure out why she’s beating this dead horse other than attention seeking or needs money from a book.

Why would anyone be surprised? She already wrote one scathing, vengeful book blaming people for her running demise. Why stop there? Keep bashing others instead of getting some therapy to move on with your life. Some legacy she’s leaving.
