This is such a pathetic post. We're talking about a 17/18 year old female high school runner that obviously had an off day. Every confidence that Ritzenhein will recapture her form in college and go on to have an excellent career at NAU - you don't win NXN (or the other things she has won) without having something to offer.
Cali 13-14-15-16 shows once again that they are fraudulent for how many bids they consistently get.
It's not a bad region- but it seems that when there are two teams of a similar resume, the committee always goes with the Cali team out of the two. Maybe, since Cali has proven time and time again that they don't run particularly well at NXN (on average), we should stop favoring the Cali teams.
To be able to send 4 teams with the worst still getting 16th seems pretty good. I'd worry more about the regions who can't even beat the 4th best California team.
Buchanan was 17th. Did not have that on my bingo card. That is their worst finish at NXN.

Rich G also got it wrong with some of the girls at large teams. JSerra didn't have a good showing today finishing 21st out of 22 teams. By their standards from earlier in the season, they also didn't run well at the CIF state meet.
Van Meerten really does have a future, maybe a marathoner. He does not have a projectable stride but he is just get started, a course record at Mt. Sac and then battling tough to the finish to get second was impressive over Leonard. With more miles, he will be a lot faster next year. Jackson Spencer, to me, looks like he has major 1500-5000 range in his future. He just ran so easy most of that race, very efficient, powerful stride. He's run 1:52/4:02. I bet he drops a lot of time outdoors.
I don’t even want to think about the prospects of the New York girls teams next year… both Bethlehem and shen are losing good runners (and some of the other “better teams” are too). At least we have a couple good individuals returning
Potentially stupid question, apologies - is the stream showing as 'offline' for everyone else too? Trying to figure out if it's a VPN issue or just not live

Answering my own question, swapped to chrome from firefox and it's on now.

The boys will still be worse. We took 7 of the bottom 14 places in the team race today.

Bethlehem, Saratoga, and Guilderland should be the section 2 teams battling it out for an NXN spot next year.
Girls who win as freshmen are not necessarily going to get better but freshmen boys almost always improve a great deal, and Jude Ritzenhein was top freshman in 40th in the boys' race in 15:49. As for next year, there are a bunch of top juniors and sophomores to contend, with Van Meerten and Mantecon being the favorites but Ritzenhein has a long time to drop a minute.
It will be interesting to see if he hits the sophomore slump or not. By junior year, he should be breaking out for sure
What happened to Serra .....Top 10 team most of the year ......
Jserra coach burns his girls out every single XC season. his two good seniors from last year were in boots and crutches most of last year with stress fractures (Polay and Garcia). Current senior Tasser has been on crutches this year. His top runner this year has been dealing with injury (streadbeck) and Reese Holley had a fracture the year before. A bunch of absolute workhorses who end up getting overtrained into injury.
Other than the SW, how many regions put two teams ahead of them?
Northeast and Midwest both did
So they might have an argument for an at large on the Boy’s side. On the Girl’s side SW teams went 2, 4, 5, 7. Their at large teams held up their end of the bargain. Plus MV won RunningLane.
That’s exactly what happened for the Heartland girls teams 2 years ago. This year they went 1st and 6th. Shows how quickly things can change at the high school level
