Just joining the thread, but seriously the worst coverage ever. Like a parody. They can't manage to show us anything meaningful in the women's race? The Australian commentators are beyond inane. OMG, like fingernails on a blackboard.
We know that Sifan Hassan is past her prime, and Eliud is essentially finished. So don’t expect too much out of either of them. Sifan can at least contend for the podium, even past her prime.

In the immediate post-race interview, Hassan admitted she felt knackered in the last k and seemed completely chuffed to here her name chanted out during the race.

Eliud also set his PR at that age though I believe could be 2-3 years older than stated... he probably just isn't one for hilly courses.

The worst women coverage ever seen for a major. No Sydney marathon viewing for me ever again, simply a huge waste of time sitting out a few male leads and endless wheelchair coverage.

I thought so too, but no, Chicago doesn't just ignore the women for the last 30 min of their race and then finally cut to the leader with like 1500 m to go. These commentators were profoundly UN knowledgeable and inane, but totally ignoring the women's race is unforgivable. They didn't cut to the women until like the top 15 men finished and they are interviewing the good will ambassador Kipchoge. Chicago is better then this.

We’ve been through this many times. Unless you’re big into Wheelchair racing, the coverage for all marathons sucks. Better to just do live tracking and save yourself the disappointment.

In the influencer division, Kofuzi is on a solid 7:23 pace through 35k and looks to be running 3:13ish pace (seems to be BQing is his goal these days). Track Club Babe hit the wall around 25k but then suddenly sped up around 20 miles. And Matt Fox is jogging 9:50 miles.

Woodstock Runner finished by just under three hours. Local club. Good them. Sydney Strider around same time. Likely for the later to a quicker club time.
Exactly. She ran about 9.5 minutes slower than the world record. Somebody is starting to get it.
Sydney is a much tougher course than Chicago and that world record is almost certainly dirty given the world record holder just got popped for doping. A win is a win, especially on a major. Plus set the course record by a huge margin. Seems like a great day for Hassan on all fronts
