Wanyonyi and Sedjati just scream dopers lmao XD cant trust anyone from countries with very questionable testing
The frequency and consistency with which Wanyonyi can pump out 1:41s is certainly very suspicious. I mean the world champs aren’t for another 3 months and the guy is already running times considerably faster than the championship record practically for free.
Wanyonyi is well protected. If he starts to slip or lose races, he’ll disappear for a couple of weeks with a quick trip to the motherland to “re-adjust” lol, just like last year. lol
Did she? Who else was in that race? Any of the stronger 800m runners? Even the commentators are saying she is not in great form and hasn’t had the best start to the season. And I’d agree.
Her tactics did stop working last year when Keely started beating her. Now Hunter-Bell is also unfazed.
I’m sure all the coaches (if they are decent) will go through this race with the runners and highlight what Moraa does over and over again and how best to deal with that.
The best tacticians are those that run their own race and don’t get in to bad positions..they also keep people guessing. Running the same every race is not the best tactic…
Hunter-Bell is showing herself to be a great tactician. Others have a bit to learn. It will be interesting when Keely is back. I miss Mu as she could also deal with Moraa, back when she was in peak form and the race was always better with Mu in it.
Maloney, Hiltz, F Hailu, Welteji.
Id agree her form has been off. Id also say that her tactics dont work against every race plan. However i think Sekgodiso, Wiley, Reekie, and Werro are all in comparable shape. Its pretty good if her strategy which rendered the pacer irrelevant got her to beating all of them, and some by a lot.
Yeah she’s a good runner obviously so it’s no surprise that she should be up there. I think it’s a shame she still uses the silly fartlek tactics but to be fair, more fool those that get taken in by her still after all these years.
I’d just like to see something different from her. That’s what I think makes a good runner. These tactics will not work forever.

Ok Coevett. Wanyonyi really “slipped” when he PBed and ran 1:41.58 to get second. And he “disappeared” when he skipped one race 5 days later, and there was no DL 800 in London or 800m races to run in reality.
He gets paid MILLIONS in large part due to his speed, quickness and explosiveness IN PADS. And has a track and field background, albeit some time ago.
I firmly believe that if track paid more than football and basketball, the current US record holders at the collegiate and pro level would look different today.
Some of the University of Miami’s most talented football teams under Butch Davis had some studs run track.
I agree with you. It would be a different landscape altogether.
A great tactician is someone who wins races and she does that in her own inimitable way
Not true. Great athletes can win races despite poor tactics. Asbel Kiprop did this for years.
Watch the 2023 Worlds final. Moraa ran the entire race in lane 2, save for a few steps on the outside of lane 1 on the first turn of the bell lap. Those are not good tactics. But it didn't matter.
BTW, it is painful to watch Mu run so wide on those turns.
I don’t know why everyone keeps letting Moraa do that. Surely they’ve learnt by now. Though with Georgia’s finishing speed it worked out well for her.
Reekie makes the same mistakes over and over again. She was completely boxed in then and let a runner with a quicker finishing speed dictate the race. If she’s ever going to do well she needs to take more control. She tends to tie up in the last 100..
Reekie runs better when Keely is in the race. She knows Keely and just reacts to what she does. Her best times are when Keely is in the race.

That post doesn’t read like Coevett, are you sure? Either way, the guy is right. Wanyonyi in fact disappeared as noted - as he has done before. You’re just angry someone noticed. Protected? I agree, and not only is he protected as a doper. He pushes and elbows competitors, tries to run wide all the time in the last 20 meters if it’s a tight race. Because he knows he’ll get away with it. If Hoey or Hoppel did that they’d be DQd.
can't tell if you are trolling but I will reply anyways, they literally had to try and pay people with his scam crypto scheme to get people to show up to this "parade", which in itself is a very dictator small dick energy thing to do
"democrats" as you call them, had millions of people protest against trump/republicans and their fascist policies on the same day, no idea wtf your are smoking, but maybe you should stop disappearing up your own ass and come back to reality
I can understand this if it's a tactical 5K but would you really hate to see a break up in a race where the same two people are rattling off 61 second laps? This is a pure time trial and although a fast race, only the last lap was exciting as Almgren left Girma in the dust
Idk it's just not completely entertaining to me and field events are fun

He didn’t disappear. His management announced he’d scratched the next race 5 days later because they were happy with two 1:41s in 3 weeks. There were no high-level 800m races after as London (the last DL) had no 800. Plenty of other athletes trained without racing after the race in Paris.

Yeah I love the commentators trying to pretend that Warholm was the favorite. Talk about no clue what you are looking at. I emphasized after the 300 outcome that it meant absolutely nothing toward Sunday.
Warholm is past his prime and can longer defeat Benjamin at 400 hurdles unless Benjamin makes a mistake. The large gap between Benjamin and Warholm was very logical, exactly what it figured to be. Just less than a second. But the overwhelming story of the race was Dos Santos. That is the best he has looked since Eugene 2022.
300 hurdles is a vastly different race than 400 hurdles. It worked out well that fans were enlightened very quickly, after scoffing at the addition of 300 hurdles 6 months ago. Warholm fits perfectly at 300 hurdles because he can sprint the entire way. But at 400 hurdles he's like a swimmer who specialized in the 100 meter freestyle his entire career but now is better suited to the 50.

You picked the wrong example. By far the most similar race to today was Moraa in the 2022 Commonwealth Games final. That's when Keely began to get intimidated by Moraa and she required nearly 2 full years to shake it off.
Identical to today, Moraa went to the front early. She allowed herself to be passed just before the end of the first lap. She dropped to last place early on the backstretch. Then she began a rally that ended up in a stunning victory.
I always remembered that tactic because I was sure someday Moraa would try it again. And she thought she had the victory again. It ended up being like a horse race where all the targets in front are picked off then the horse gets complacent and doesn't see the rapid finisher far to his outside:
As someone who was actually in the nearly sold out stadium, it didn't matter that the stadium was smaller because the atmosphere was electric, especially when Mondo attempted the WR and the last kilometre of Almgren's race, everyone was standing and cheering him on. Didn't see that anywhere during GST in Philly.

I don't think Hodgkinson was intimidated, she just needed time to work out Moraa. Moraa runs races in a way that is unique so no one really knew what to do with her for a short while. Now, the path to beating Moraa is well known. She's going to need some tactical variation if she wants to win again.

Yep completely agree. See the London DL a few years ago when she went sub 1.56 with Keely winning.
British woman in 3rd in the 3000m, Innes Fitzgerald is only 19. Wow that is impressive.
This has gone massively under the radar. 8:32 at age 19 is excellent. She was a great junior, winning Euro Cross, but she's now posting competitive times on the track at such a young age. This would be the number one time in the NCAA, right?
