In other news - the 200 and 400m runners seem to be struggling with this lack of a banked track. Good point made about the outside lanes seeming to work a bit harder.
Weve merged two threads into 1 and kept the title of the 1st thread. Our analysis of the entries can be found here: https://www.letsrun.com/news/2...
We will do a live day 1 reaction show at 10 pm ET: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Inside lanes are more work I think is what you meant
You're right... Actually wait, no? Typically I think inside lanes are harder, but this track seems different.
Auhmad Robinson is one of my favorite athletes to watch, ever since that outdoor 4x400m when he was at SFA. Such a killer.

Inside lanes are always more work due to tighter turns no matter the bank of the track, you're using more energy laterally than forward.
What happened to Judson Lincoln? Has he been hurt or something? He's been fantastic the last year or so.
Tracks (pardon the pun)
He got hurt at ACCs, from what I saw. Don't know how much he recovered but he visibly pushed through pain.
tune in, it's weight throw recap time!
A couple videos of field events have popped up on the NCAA's youtube page. So far, women's long jump and women's weight throw. I'm sure many more will follow.
Ow
not watching the stream rn. how did ezekiel look? looks like he qualified by a big margin
The washington runner that fell should get in the final, got blatantly tripped by the Oregon Kenyan
Crazy first 800m - Kidali went down hard, Hassan let off the gas too quick, Watke (Gary Martin's twin) dipped past him, two runners down - commentators on the money with it being the fastest qualifier EVER indoors.
Kidali's up and smiling now, but that's brutal. Long strides must be hard to manage indoors.
Ezekiel looked great, ran a good tactical race.

That's exactly how I saw it.
Also how does a 1:42 guy look that bad in a ~1:47 prelim?

Kidali with a dumbas& move to knock over the Wash kid
*Oregon Kenyan - Kidali. Don't be a hater.
Yes, surely it was intentional given he was falling to the infield. If he had enough body control not to hit somebody, he would've had it to not fall.
Could see Washington go through on protest, Oregon just looked like a really unfortunate fall on an indoors track.

Is this track too steep? Outer lanes struggling and Kidali looked like he fell literally due to the bank which you never see.
PV with 8 over 5.61 is already deeper than the USATF finals, deeper than outdoor and indoor last year, winning height will probably be higher than all three of those, insane PV competition PRs everywhere.
I think it's just banked differently than most of the major meets. Maybe a higher bank on the inside than usual and a lower one on the outside?
But it's indoors. Anything can happen on an indoor track, and stumbling like that near the end of an 800m race going lactic is something I'm shocked doesn't happen more often.

Fair, could be that. Have never seen lane 3 runners fare so well.

They posted the 5k earlier and then took it down. I was able to watch the whole thing.
