I posted this in the other thread, but can someone explain the 2nd-6th place results? I have heard of only one of those guys and yet they are all faster than the US record (set by a top-10 Olympic Marathoner).
These runners (except Kiplimo and Kamworor) are truly B-list athletes* in the sport:
Results:
Jacob Kiplimo (UGA) – 56:42 World Record (no words for this)
Josep Solà Benítez – 57:38 (SMH and/or stunned)
Ivan Serrano Hernandez – 57:59 (Never heard of this guy; have you?)
Zulnio Tarakanantyo Yudha – 58:31 (Huh? WTH?)
Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor –58:44 (okay, this finally makes sense)
Daniel Delgado Cañaveral – 58:55 (has he run professionally before this race?)
* But I guess that is what Spanish track fans must have said when they heard Gary Martin is faster than Fermín Camacho!

Let's clarify this one last time. Kamworor came in second place, please consult the livestream, the other athletes on this top six likely are there due to some glitch with the timing system. Of course, they didn't run that fast.

Thanks! I didn't watch the race (obviously), and was shocked to see those times!

Hurray, finally a clean WR from a legit East African again after a week of suspicious white boy WRs. Rightfully East African supremacy, always. This model of success cannot be broken. Grant fisher knows that.
Why would the "white boy" (that's a racist term) WR's be any more suspicious than Kiplimo's (black boy)?
Unless he's another Zersenay Tadese, he should be able to break 2. Beautiful run. He's not short, he's light, and runs with a higher than "normal" cadence.
Interesting read from 2020. Did the standard 5k to school growing up. Won the Ugandan trial for the World Mountain Running Champs at 14? but they deemed him too young to compete internationally. When he turned 15, he moved to Italy to work with a coach there, but moved back after 2ish years because he wanted to stay in Uganda. Seemed to cross paths with Cheptegei a lot despite not being part of the same running group.
Here is an issue I have experienced twice, lastly today.
Email addresses are not allowed, however someone was allowed to register an account with a name that is entirely an email address.
I responded to this user, and just because I quoted him (name and all), my IP address was permanantly banned!
I assume that this is an algorithim (which can and should be fixed), because the alternative (really, REALLY stupid mods) is too depressing to contemplate.

I posted the above in the Moderation issues thread.

Alternatively, maybe they removed the Spaniards from the results because they make the race look too fishy 🤔
shoe tech deniers punching air for the fourth year in a row.
It isn't shoes. If it was records would have been broken on a weekly basis for years. They haven't - till now. Same old, same old. A totally dirty sport.

Sad that every time someone breaks a world record all we hear about is doping. Definitely sometimes justified but running and cycling are the only sports that react like this. Can't we just pretend for a while that he really did run one of the greatest races in history?
