Bennies/Johnnies hosting the Auggies, Royals for MIAC opponents, Stout will bring the heat from future North Region competition, otherwise Bemidji State and Cloud, along with some UMAC folks. Should be an easy pickup for both home teams, but does Mo Bati spoil the fun? Course record should go down like a breeze, currently held by none other than Nick St. Peter at a sluggish 16:13 for such a flat course.
Gusties tempo with Smith taking the win. If he has figured out cross country, the rest of the MIAC should be on notice. No Bati and some fast times from the Johnnies. Stout definitely brought the heat. Not sure a MIAC team can beat them.
Stout was tempoing but yeah I for sure agree with this. Oles are going to struggle against them at regions, but odds are North sends 6, maybe 7 to Nats anyways.
11. Augsburg - Bati didn't race at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational, but was healthy enough to run an absurd 42 miles in 24 hours. Posting a team average of 17:51 on a quick course indicates the squad still has some work to do to challenge Hamline and Saint Mary's.
Augsburg is essentially scoring 4 against other teams 5. I think that even with Bati & 70-73, they’re still top 9. Possibly ~6/7 on the upside.
I suspect he’s trolling a bit too with the ~27/24 (51 mile) weekend.
I don't think he cares enough about the MIAC to troll them. He just loves running and has curiosity to see what he his body can do. He actually did race, but just ran with some teammates to support them. My math has him at 61 miles in 48 hours. That's more than most of the Oles ran in 7 days.
In our latest update we've learned that Queen Taytay supports Harris and Power stans Trump. Might explain his recruiting issues. I've also head Lars and Boone have been fighting because Lars received a one year supply of zyn from the Kennedy campaign and Calvin thinks he's throwing his vote away.
Power is definitely not a Trumper. Lars, however is definitely a Zyner.
Looking forward to seeing everyone’s first 8K where we can turn commentary to running and not poor attempts at humor. Griak and St. Olaf both should give us a good sense of where the teams are.

No shame in letting him pace Harris to get a little sense of what the rest of his teammates are dealing with. Interesting to see the falloff of some members of the program, considering where Ali had been in previous systems. However, really proud of Bati to see him enjoying his time as a student-athlete focusing on the program for his degree and letting running be an enjoyment on the side instead of just leaving to go to a program to run. My prediction is that he'll be around 24:15 sometime this year, on a flattish and still somewhat warm course, no more than halfway through October.

I don’t get this take. If this was a high school team I’d fully support that, but this is competitive college athletics. Yes, it’s D3, but I’m sure he’s fully aware of what his teammates go through when he runs with them at practice. I also hate when the Oles and Gusties tempo during races, so I may be in the minority as a purist. When you put the singlet on with your school name on it that should mean something.

Old man yells at clouds
People have used races as workout setting since the dawn of time. You're not a purist you just didnt go to a strong program with good training so now you whine about it on the internet as a weird form of self aggrandizing
Reading the Ole Strava accounts shin makes me wonder what the heck Power is doing. Sounds like he’s lost the team and they’re again going to underperform at the national stage.
Wonder whether the class of 2023 will reach out to the new AD to talk about unrealized potential. Talk about missed opportunities.

What on earth are you talking about. I’m reading their strava trying to figure out what you could possibly be alluding to. Be specific with links when u make accusations like this.
From what I can tell it looks like they’re under-ranked and preparing to to decimate the rest of the MIAC
Macalester (Men and Women) won the All-American Invitational and Concordia-Moorehead ran across town at the Dragon Twilight.
Reece McKee avenged an early loss to Tyler Edwards winning the individual four mile race in 20:23.0. Edwards finished thirteen seconds back. Nick Irhke won the battle of the Ihrkes beating his brother and Mac 5th runner John's 21:41. Mac's 6th man was only a second back of little Ihrke, adding nice depth. The Luther Lebakken moved up strong late and beat the Macalester Lebakken.
The Cobbers finished fourth were led by the fastest twins in the MIAC. Brady Goss clicked off 5:00 pace to be the first D3 finisher and continues to show tremendous improvement under Coach Van Beek.
Many of the MIAC squads appear to be headed to Northfield this weekend, so we'll get our first look at individual and team matchups. Macalester and St. Scholastica are running at Griak, so we'll see our first Calvin vs. Reece head to head of the season.
Id like to point out how everyone hates power for being fat and a sprinter but no one realizes every year they hate, the oles just keep doing well. I agree he wasted a lot of guys potential and may not be as good of a coach they deserve but it seems silly to continually hat him and the oles only to set ourselves up for disappointment again...

I'd argue that he's exactly the coach the Oles deserve. I've met a lot of those guys.
And from what I understand he wasn't a sprinter, he ran college cross country but in his prime, he would likely finish last in a race with other MIAC coaches in their prime. Including the Bennies and Cobbers coaches.
He was hired to coach sprints but then played a hand in forcing a legendary coach into retirement.
Can we talk about something more useful? Or should we continue the dumb discussions about someone who can't even run across the course.

It's spring 2019. Phil's been going through the motions for a while now and announces his retirement at the end of the year. St. Olaf does a formal search for a head track coach for all events, and after the St. Olaf AD and current team captains both express a preference for him, hire Power. An XC coach search is planned for spring 2020 but covid stops that, and so without the ability to find a new coach properly the AD asks Power, unproven but generally liked among the Oles, to step up. Power then proves himself by reversing St. Olaf's decline in MIAC results in XC on top of track, and the AD feels good about their decision.
This guy: Power did a January 6 on Phil and sucks and MIAC should have coaches run and score in races too cuz Power would totally tank the Oles score, and as someone with no ties to St. Olaf I will not stop talking about Phil 5 years later
