He actively tried to be. Not very well, mind you. His supporters flooded the Capitol building but they didn't really do anything once they got there. His attempts to 'find more votes' and overturn the peaceful transition of power fell by the waist side, so he's spent the past 3 years whining that the election was stolen from him.
Remember in 2016, when he was claiming for months leading up to the election that it would be 'rigged' and 'stolen from him', but then he won and everyone just forgot about it? Then he did the same exact thing leading up to 2020, and when he actually lost that time around suddenly he saw the future and is a martyr for democracy?
I in no way believe that Trump is on the same level as the following, but lets not forget that the Nazis, Hamas, and Putin all came to power through the democratic process, only for them to dismantle that democratic process once they had full authority to do so. Do I think Trump is an evil person like those above I mentioned? No, definitely not. Do I think he would try to subvert our electoral rules to keep himself in power like they did? Yes, I do since he's already tried.
