Its abundantly clear that no one in here ever went through the D1 recruiting process. Coaches ask for transcripts of every athlete to make sure its not a waste of time to recruit them. Stanford had Engelhardts transcripts and still scheduled her for an official visit and kept recruiting her. Do you think they waste their time and money if her transcripts show she wasn't capable of getting in?

Actually, Sadie took her visit early in her junior year, so you’re mistaken. Athletes are allowed to go on visits that early, and at that point she still had half of high school left. The reality is that Stanford often evaluates recruits’ transcripts carefully, and sometimes they just don’t have the academic workload needed for admission. It’s nothing unusual and it happens with top recruits all the time.

I was a borderline student and my times were among the best in the country, but ultimately the coaches couldn’t get me through admissions even after a recruiting trip. It worked out, though. I went out of state, had an incredible experience, and everything fell into place the way it was meant to. Sadie will be fine in North Carolina, sometimes the best path isn’t the one you originally plan

The problem is that I don’t think Stanford is the best path for everyone. It does offer great academic opportunities, but not everyone wants to spend 60 hours each week in classrooms. For people with the most talent in athletics, you can graduate from Alabama, get super rich professional contracts, and hire Stanford graduates to work for you.
