It's wonderful that Democrats use the term "insurrection." It makes them sound incredibly stupid, disingenuous, and quite frankly rather wuss like for describing what happened on January 6th as an insurrection. So since taking over the government clearly didn't work, what do Democrats think the chances were that Jan 6ers were actually going to succeed in their insurrection? Democrats cry like babies and act as though it was really going to work, which is complete nonsense.
So a failed attempt isn't a crime? You need to think about this before answering.

Glitter turbo boy has absolutely no knowledge about what he posts about. If Pence under pressure accepted the fraud electors, if Pence under threat of bodily harm left the capital, if Congress under threat of attack didn't certify the vote, it would have given Trump the ability to step in the chaos and send the selection authority back to the state delegations.
Trump would now be president. Insurrection would have been successful.
The real verdict (on whether it was an “insurrection”, the 34 fake felonies, etc) was on November 5th - in 2024. He was acquitted
He wasn't acquitted of anything. It was simply a SCOTUS that said he could commit any bunch of crimes as President and get away with it. He took them at their word.
this is a lame semantics argument. guy drives drunk and kills a kid in a car he collides with. are we really splitting hairs that he's somehow not a "killer" or "murderer" because the state decides the legally precise charge is instead "intoxication manslaughter" because they didn't mean to kill anyone, they just drank past the point to control the outcome? don't waste our time. lame lame lame argument.
worse, in no small irony, you're trying to take advantage of the fact the biden DOJ tried to play nice with the 1/6 folks with light charges. they could have thrown the book at folks and didn't. the thanks they get are the pardons and people trying to rewrite history and play word games.
let's be blunt. in a lot of countries if you tried a coup like this they would clear that crowd with machine guns. tiananmen square. what's happening in iran now. heck, the lady in MN got a tougher treatment.
and you're gonna cry about it and lawyer us? be glad they are alive and walking around. be honest what you tried to do. the fact it failed doesn't change what you were trying to do.

i see it as trump screwed himself. there is no fair argument trump won 2020, but they were starting to line up congresspeople behind the elector challenge idea. which was trump's "legal" way in.
trump, so undisciplined, could not sit still and allow that to happen. ICE, maduro, etc. he has to stick his finger on the scales with force. so he whips up a mob.
mob hits capitol. congress flees. sincerely enraged congress votes against trump after the capitol is cleared.
within a matter of weeks they turned back into political hacks for impeachment.
the man screws himself. but then he's done it over and over in his life. how he handled covid. bankruptcies. the USFL lawsuit. cheated on every wife he's had. on and on. only reason he's in any position of power after all that indiscipline is he started off rich.
