Your point about low income people "paying" for these loans--the burden upon them is minuscule, a piece of the pie so small as to be meaningless. I am not entirely opposed to the military budget, but if you want to discuss the portions of our national budget that are burdensome, start there. Or start with untaxed wealth, from individuals or corporations, but not pieces of the pie that are insignificant.

I graduated in 2022 with ~$40,000 in loans... I have payed off ~$30,000 myself, no help from Biden (freeze was helpful I admit)

It seems the rich get bailouts, the poor get handouts... but normal working people get nothin.

Obviously I am being a bit facetious, but hopefully some changes can be made so the normal working people that are the backbone of our country stop needing to carry the burden of the poor and the rich.

If student loan debt is forgiven, expect home prices to continue to go up, because all those people will be in the market as they are now qualifying for mortgages, etc.

No. Most of the debt being forgiven is interest. The actual loan amount was paid off long long ago. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

But was interest part of the terms of the original loan contract? I think when we start letting the President void contracts in a potentially arbitrary and capricious manner that we are opening up a Pandora’s box.
