Yeah that’s fair…Hailu is this years Seyaum. Gotta have her to potentially kick for bronze. You could argue for her inclusion in the 1500 squad but putting her at 5,000 allows them to get everyone in the 15 instead of snubbing Welteji/Haylom et al.
They can’t put Eisa in the 10k though right? She’s never run one/isn’t qualified if I’m not mistaken.
Perhaps...im just hoping these women dont go to Budapest and run 14.45/ 15 mins
I used to hate races in the Cheruiyot/defar dibaba era cause of this nonsense

People with 14.12s and then sit till 500 to go
You might see that though. Kipyegon, Tsegay and Chebet all trust their kicks. Only Hassan/Taye (if she’s in there) might inject pace early. I suppose Monson could push it too.

You have every right to, her range and achievements are unbelievable.
It’s a strange new world where the reigning Olympic champion blasts her own PB and sets an area record and still gets beat convincingly.
Hassan has run 3:51 and 29:06. That 14:22 was NOT an accurate representation of her 5000m ability, which should be much closer to the WR than even what she ran today, it was bound to go down in a fast race. She also doesn't have quite the same spring in her step for the final kick after all that marathon training. She got outsprinted by Tsegay, who's a 3:53 1500m runner in her own right.
But the getting is good, no argument there. The depth on the women's side in particular has finally been catching up year after year. What a time to be alive.
So nice to see Van Niekerk making meaningful progress. He's got the most beautiful form I've ever seen.
He got injured in 2017. Couldn't even break 47 seconds until 2020. 45 seconds in 2021, and slowly improved since then to now look like he's back in sub-44 shape.
Has anyone noticed Kyree King’s racing schedule? holy cow, this dude has run every race there is the past few weeks, often running the 100/200 double at meets.
